Dana RichaRDson aGE: 32 Dana Richardson satisfies his self-professed nerdy side as a full-time IT consultant, but during his spare time, his true hero comes out as deputy commander for Red Rock Search and Rescue, a volunteer organization (which he helped found in 2012) that scours surrounding recreation areas when wilderness enthusiasts go missing. Richardson’s interest in the outdoors was piqued after he became increasingly dissatisfied with his sedentary life. “I went hiking at Mount Charleston one day, and I couldn’t go farther than three miles,” he says. It was a turning point, and he pushed himself to get fit before training in search-and-rescue techniques with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
