Charlie’s Bio Charlie started skiing at the age of 3 on the slopes of Cairngorm in the Scottish Highlands, with the Scottish Ski Club race training group. From there she began leaving home at the age of 11 to train and race at the British Ski Academy in France, during the winter months. Over the last 9 years Charlie has progressed through the British system and at 14 became the first British girl to win an International Children’s race before moving into FIS racing with the Scottish Alpine Ski Team. In November 2011 Charlie started training in Austria with the British Junior team as a part time athlete and quickly progressed to become part of the British Senior Team. In her second season as a full time athlete Charlie has reached a number of significant milestones;    

A world cup debut in Flachau, Austria Achieving her first ever Europa Cup points Winning her first ever continental cup title Improved Giant Slalom ranking by over 300 places

Charlie is currently British number 1 for slalom and 2 for giant slalom and is on a clear pathway to the compete in the Winter Olympic Games in Korea 2018 and the World Championships in Vail, Colorado in February 2015.

After leaving school in 2012 Charlie has dedicated herself to skiing full-time and training twice a day and 5 days a week at the Scottish Institute of Sport to ensure that she is in peak physical shape. Charlie’s busy schedule takes her all over the world spending almost 3 months training in New Zealand in the summer, and racing in their winter before coming back to the Northern Hemisphere and spending October to May competing all over Europe. “Ski racing is a full time commitment and I 100% believe, that with the hours I am dedicating on and off the hill I will achieve my goal of one day becoming World number 1. This year alone I have halved my FIS points and improved my Giant Slalom ranking by over 300 places, and am looking to break into the top 100 in the world over the next 12 months.”

How you can help In order to compete against the top athletes in my sport I must stay in peak physical condition and spend over 10 months of the year travelling between training and racing venues. This means trying to build a world class programme with the little financial support we have here in the UK for skiers, and this does not come cheap. Therefore, I need to raise the necessary funds, via sponsorship, to finance my training, coaching and travel expenses (to name a few) to be able to continue training with my team all year round, and more importantly make it out to the World Championships in Vail, Colorado next year and continue on the path to the Winter Olympics, Korea, 2018. Your contributions and how they will help me: In order to make it out to the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2015 and continue racing and training with the British Team up until the champs, I need to raise over £12,000. This is only a percentage of the £50,000 that being part of the team costs me, but will cover my travel, accommodation, training, coaching and all other expenses in the run up to Vail, and during the competition there. The Impact your support will have: Ski racing for me is a full time commitment (in between being a waitress and taking on other jobs just to make ends meet) and I believe that with the hours I am dedicating on and off the hill I will achieve my goal of one day becoming World Number 1. This year alone I have halved my FIS points, improved my Giant Slalom ranking by over 300 places, achieved the best results for Great Britain at a World Junior Championships for 14 years and am looking to break into the top 100 in the world over the next 12 months. I am only able to compete in this sport due to the help and support of my sponsors, who will be able to share and be a huge part of my successes. Sponsorship Opportunities: Throughout the year I travel all across the world and my competitions are regularly televised and my photographs often published. I have various items of clothing and kit that your company logo can be printed onto, in order for your organisation to benefit from the exposure. Although I have a busy schedule, I would commit to attending and speaking at business events throughout the year, providing that I am available and would also maintain a dialogue with the business advising of my achievements. With Scotland’s sporting exports firmly under the spotlight in this, the year of the Commonwealth, I believe that a sponsorship partnership would take advantage of this.
