Survival Of The Fittest In Quarantine

Being quarantined for the majority of the year has brought on many things such as; stress, anxiety, cabin fever and extra WEIGHT!

You are not alone, we are right there with you! Here are a few quick tips to shed some of that unwanted weight COVID or NO COVID.

1.Physical activity: This might be obvious but with gym capacity reducing and winter weather moving in, options can feel limited. However, there are quite a few walking in place videos on YouTube that can work up a sweat.

Don’t think it won’t.

2.Healthy Eating: Again obvious, but it seems like it is more expensive to eat healthier than it is to just grab cheap junk food these days. Instead try small substitution like bananas chips instead of potato chips.

Consistency is always key.

3.Quality sleep: Those random cat naps are not helpful nor is staying up until 5 am. Your sleep cycle is extremely critical to your health. Set a bedtime, stick to it! Drink some chamomile tea or use lavender aromatherapy to set that sleepy time vibe. Sleep and health go hand and hand.

4.Self-Care: We are social being by nature, however, reality TV has shown us that being in a house with the same people for an extended period of time, can drive the best of us, crazy! Self-care is critical. If you need to take a walk, take it. If you need to meditate, find a quiet place inside or outside to meditate. Sitting in your car can be the stress relief you need. Take care of yourself.

5.Take media breaks: All interaction has gone digital with

COVID on the rise, however, a break from media can be a great time to reset, regroup and refocus on your goals and health.

6.Smart Fitness: Get the family involved in your at home workouts, it’s a win-win-win situation. 1. Everyone is on a health journey. 2. After a good workout anyone can be talked into taking a nap. 3.

Once everyone is sleep, you finally have some peace and quiet.

7.Stay Hydrated: Being inside most of the day can feel like you are not thirsty, but your body still needs at least 8 glasses of water a day. Pour up, Drank…water!

Being constrained through the pandemic has been tough on the world but by protecting ourselves from the virus and making efforts to stay healthy can make all the difference. Although, it is not as simple as it sounds because pushing yourself towards a healthy lifestyle is nothing less than a struggle. However, with some motivation, consistency, and effort, everything can become possible.
