STEP 2 – University Requirements High School requirements: Must have a combined average of 65% in English 30-1 (or equivalent), three academic classes and a fifth course that can be academic or non-academic. Details at: discover.ulethbridge.ca/highschool/thinkapply.ezc Transfer student requirements: Must have a 2.0 GPA. Post-Diploma requirements: Must have a 2.5 GPA. June 15 November 15

Transcripts must be forwarded to the U of L from all high schools and post-secondary institutions you attended. Through ApplyAlberta, applicants authorize the U of L to request transcripts on their behalf from Alberta Education or publicly funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta. Applicants attending private institutions in Alberta or educational institutions out-of-province must arrange to have official transcripts sent directly to the U of L Registrar’s Office and Student Services. Submitting interim transcripts may lead to early admission. If English is not your first language you must meet the English Language Proficiency requirement.

Performance Technical/Design Theatre Studies First Year Applicants If you are starting your first year you DO NOT need to submit a portfolio or audition prior to admission to a BFA (Dramatic Arts) program. This is advantageous to students with no previous experience who want to explore their interest in theatre. BFA (Dramatic Arts) students are admitted to the Faculty based on meeting University qualifications. Students pursuing the Performance major must successfully audition in their 2nd year (see Audition Requirements). Transfer Applicants Transfer students DO NOT need to submit a portfolio. Transfer students who wish to declare a Performance major must audition if entering their 3rd year of studies (see Audition Requirements). Diploma Applicants Students with a Diploma in Theatre & Dramatic Arts (either 2 or 3 years) can apply directly to the PostDiploma BFA program. Technical/Design majors and Theatre Studies majors must submit a portfolio, but an audition is NOT required. Performance majors must audition and submit a portfolio. If you are applying for the Post-Diploma BFA (Dramatic Arts)/B.Ed you must submit a portfolio, but an audition is NOT required. Portfolio Requirements Materials should represent your recent theatre experiences as a performer, designer, or technician and be presented professionally.

Online Portfolio Submissions Submit your portfolio at: ulethbridge.slideroom.com Mail Portfolio Submissions Drama Portfolio Submission Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lethbridge 4401 University Drive W. Lethbridge, AB T1K 3M4 Audition Requirements Students in the Performance major must take courses in acting, beginning with Drama 3310 (Acting: Scene Study I). To register for Drama 3310 you must pass an audition with the following requirements. Introduction: Submit a written introductory statement that expresses your interest in Drama 3310. You might address some of these ideas: what you want to learn in the course, skills you need to develop further, and your general ambitions for performance and the future. Max. 500 words. Monologue: Present a monologue from a published play that demonstrates your stage fundamentals and your ability to create a character, play intentions, and hold audience interest. You may present a monologue from any genre, form, or era. Performance Creation: Present a piece you created that demonstrates your stage fundamentals and understanding of how to theatrically structure and stage your ideas. You may present a monologue of any genre, form, era, or type, as well as a movement piece, song, or any other form of theatrical performance.
