n a recent poll, carried out by once-a-day sun protection brand, P20, over 1,000 people revealed their most irritating things about holidays. Whilst men and women varied in their responses, topping the list of windups were flight delays, closely followed by packing and unpacking, stress of remembering everything and luggage. So, if you’re searching for an action packed holiday for all the family, a bit of “me” time to relax and chill or a friends weekend away (i.e. favouring activities that preclude the ingestion of excessive alcohol!), we may just have found the place for you right on your doorstep. Corralea Activity Centre is a comfortable two hour’s drive from Belfast, two and a half hours from Dublin and rooted in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakeland nestling on the shores of Upper Lough Macnean - only 3 miles from Belcoo. What makes Corralea unique is its mix of appeal - you can choose to do as much or as little as you like depending on your mood. You may want to cram in as many of the high adrenaline activities on offer as you can, or simply “be” and relax and enjoy the peacefulness of its 16 acres of wildlife endowed natural forest, tranquil lough and surrounding mountains.

During a recent stay, our home for two nights was one of six environmentally friendly cottages, a stones throw from the jetty, sitting comfortably amongst the woodland. Exceeding our expectations - it had a spacious open plan living room/fitted kitchen area with tv, wood burning stove complete with logs ready to go, two bedrooms which catered for five and a modern bathroom with on trend walk in shower. Outside, a seating

area and patio with barbecue so you can take advantage of any good weather and eat outdoors. On Saturday, our first full day, we acclimatized to our surroundings and spent the morning exploring. Whist vehicles are obviously an integral part of the activity centre, what was refreshing was that others like ourselves tended to walk or cycle around the site, great if you have small children. Activities on offer at Corralea include surfing, windsurfing, caving,

mountain biking along with canoeing, archery, climbing, orienteering and a fun water park. The latest addition to the water park at Corralea is the ‘Water Totter’. This new feature is a great addition, ever fancied having a go at doing ‘Total Wipe Out’? The majority of activities are on site and supervised by qualified instructors. You are encouraged to think about what you would like to do in advance and book activities where possible this works well with regard to avoiding disappointment.
