NEED HELP?

Who do I contact in an emergency, city asset damage, shoplifting, trespassing etc? Emergency – In an emergency please call the police on 111 City Asset Damage – You may come across, or see some city asset damage, ie. fallen trees/snapped branches, graffiti, seating damage etc. You can log these repairs with the Tauranga City Council call centre by phoning 07 577 7000. Trespassing / Shop Lifting – If you have an unwanted customer, either through bad behavior or shoplifting, you are able to request they leave your premises and trespass them. Your safety should always come first so if it is an emergency or you feel threatened please call 111. Even if a shoplifter has left your store you should still ring the police to have the theft logged. Once you have dealt with the incident and notified the police please contact us on info@downtowntauranga.co.nz or 07 577 9946 to let us know what has happened so that we can send a shop alert email around our other members. If you want to trespass someone from your business you can do so verbally or written. Copies of a trespass notice can be downloaded from www.police.govt.nz/safety/home. trespassnotice.html. Shop Alerts – The shop alert is in response to a theft, threatening person or someone acting suspiciously. Once I am notified I send a shop alert to notify our wider retail network to be extra vigilant. If you have photos of the offenders through your security systems we can send these with the shop alert, otherwise a detailed description of the offender will be sent. Buskers – We love having buskers in town as they add to the atmosphere and ambience of Downtown Tauranga, however we appreciate that some have a small repertoire and some are better than others. It is usually considered acceptable for a busker to be outside your business for a limited period of time (say ½ an hour) then you can ask them to share the joy around the rest of the city. If you have concerns regarding a busker you can ring us for assistance or advice. Hawkers – Hawkers must have a license issued by Tauranga City Council and they must follow the protocols associated with that license. Most abide by the rules however occasionally you may see an overzealous person harassing customers. If this is the case you can call Tauranga City Council or if no one is available to deal with the situation contact us.
