Peep toe sandals? Add tights to the skirt you’ve been wearing barelegged all summer. There’s a huge variety of hot hosiery out for fall. Then add boots, booties or closed-toe pumps- you get the picture. But once the snow arrives I’d hang up the cotton skirt until spring re-blooms, and switch it out for a fall fabric. And for the ladies who prefer it, the a-line skirt is making a comeback.

Be daring and don a stocking with it. But to do it right it has to be a stylish hosiery option and it should look very intentional.

Skin? Continue that summer glow with Neutrogena Build a Tan- the natural look for about $9.00.

Add a long flowy cardigan to a flowy knee-length dress- even add a belt and boots to bring the look into fall.

If you’re going to invest in one signature piece this fall, make it fabulous outerwear! As you hit the ground running, please remember this key rule of thumb: Build your collection of wardrobe basics in classic styles that will not be out of fashion next year. If you can afford to buy decent quality basic pieces, they will last much longer and will give you your money’s worth. Then next fall you won’t need to collect new basic black, grey and brown pants again (unless your figure has changed). Plus when you’re trying to get out the door in a pinch, your wardrobe basics will be there for you, easy to wear with just a little planning ahead. If you’re looking to update your wardrobe without spending a fortune, go for accessories. Bright colored shoes can add some punch to your classic look. So can a fun handbag, scarf or jewels, or a trendy new top paired with your classic basics. By accessorizing with fashion trends and fun colors, prints, patterns and texture you can instantly update your look for the new season. Before you head out on your next shopping excursion, be prepared. Take a brief inventory of what you already have and certain things that are needed. Then take the appropriate undergarments, shape wear and shoes along to the fitting room. You’ll get the full picture of how an outfit will look and whether things need to be altered or hemmed. Also, even if you’re shopping on your day off, head out wearing your usual makeup and hairstyle so that you get the full effect and have that extra boost of confidence.
