St Vrain is so proud and excited to welcome new staff additions from China that have arrived to teach the kids Mandarin Chinese. Knowing that the world have become an international and global landscape, it is an exciting time for our community to have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the Chinese language as well as about the culture of China. Black Rock Elementary is pleased to welcome our Chinese teacher, Wu Jing! She arrived almost two weeks ago from the city of Chongqing and is excited to provide Chinese instruction for our children. Wu Jing teaches English to students in China, so she is very interested in perfecting her English and learning more about American culture and our school system, while teaching us about China and introduce us to Mandarin Chinese. Our school will offer both Spanish and Chinese instruction. There are currently more people in China who speak English than there are English speakers in the United States. Mandarin Chinese is projected to be a primary language of the business world in the near future. We are fortunate to be able to expose our students to the languages and cultures of both China and Latin America. Chinese and Spanish will play an integral part in preparing our students to face an increasingly global society and provide them with an advantageous social tool in the workplace while fostering their appreciation for cultural diversity.
