Touching Hearts, Raising Leaders A Brief History of Trinity’s Spanish Ministry For over 20 years, Trinity Christian Centre has worked with churches all over the continent of South America to raise and develop leaders. In 2012, Trinity’s outreach into the Spanish-speaking community came closer to home when a decision was made to reach out to this small, but growing, population in Singapore. Pastor Frank Smit shares more about how the ministry has grown over the past few years.

In The Beginning… My family and I moved from Columbia to Singapore in February 2012 for a period of training under the TCC Cell Church Model. In that year, Pastor Dominic shared his heart to reach out to the Hispanic population of Singapore. His vision was for Trinity to have a service where the Spanish-speaking community of Singapore could worship the Lord in their own language and culture. We started by providing Spanish interpretation during the English Celebration Services. In August, we also started the first carecell in my • 90 •

home (at Clementi Crescent). The carecell gathered every Saturday after service. We organized several Care Events so that carecell members had opportunities to invite others to join our fellowship.

Establishing Spiritual Authority in Singapore Before the Spanish Ministry started, I sought the Lord on how we could be more effective in reaching out to our community. For reasons unknown at the time, outreach and evangelism was very difficult. The Lord revealed that the spiritual climate for the Hispanic community
