Rainbow Beast and The Rock Band Land Rockers announces the upcoming release of Tales From the Monstrosity Scrolls. This album features mysterious, but playful tunes inspired by Roald Dahl, Lemony Snicket, and Tim Burton. Intended for older kids, the album explores an edgier creativity than most albums created for younger kids. The album opens with “Happy Clouds,” a unique tune that sets the tone for the entire record, as it features an interesting variety of genres. The tracks that follow range from pop stylings to New Orleans jazz nods. “Lola vs. the Giant Shrimp” showcases the bands’ twisted take on a rock and roll classic, and “The Truth About Polar Bears” pays tribute to French folk music.

In a perfect balance between song and storytelling, the pop musical Pacha’s Pajamas: A Story Written By Nature inspires children to tap into their imaginations to discover the special talents with which they were born. The two-CD set inspired by Aaron Ableman and produced by BALANCE, addresses topics such as health and sustainability in nature through music from featured artists, including Mos Def, Cheech Marin, rising kid rapsensation Bentley Green, and many other young stars. With 28 tracks by 70 artists, this CD is a collection of songs all based on the little girl whose pajamas whisked her away to imaginary worlds and showed her that everyone has the power to make a difference and change the world.

In a Heartbeat is Laura Doherty’s new album that features Glenn Kotche of Wilco in an assortment of sweet love songs. The collection is made up of upbeat songs for kids of all ages. All of the songs are inspired by the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley and the urban energy of Chicago, the places Doherty calls home. With titles like “Breakfast Gives Me Energy,” “It’s Okay to Be Shy,” and “I’m a Little Fish,” Doherty’s music is extremely kid-driven, but enjoyable for the entire family. “Jazzasaurus” features a sound that is a bit different than the other tunes on the album, while “Electric Guitar” showcases a new sound as well. The songs range from jazz and blues to funky and folkie, but they are all upbeat, feel-good melodies.
