Hi! I’m Amy…I love to be inspired, I love to share, I love being in love and I love, love, love my job!
My favourite wedding shoot this year was Corinne & Rob. I first photographed Corinne and several of her bridesmaids at a previous wedding in 2011 so there was already a strong bond between the bridal party and myself, which made the day very fun.
I’m a very sentimental, fun, passionate person Sharing these moments on a couples special day, I feel is such a privilege. I live by two sayings. The first being “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.” The other is “Happiness is a journey, not a destination.” Couldn’t be more true when it comes to marriage, or your wedding day... More often than not, it’s all the small things that mean the most. I feel truly blessed to be able to record and share all these moments and candid details, some of which happen in a blink of an eye... (or in my case a shutter). I’m sure some would say I’m being too open and personal with what information I’m choosing to share, but I feel it’s a unique partnership that is established between the bride and groom and myself the photographer on their wedding day. I get to share all your most intimate, special moments, so it’s only fair you get to know a bit about me too.

favourite look this year...
I don’t have a have a particular favourite style/ look. I think that is such a unique individual thing that needs to reflect who the couple is. To be able to capture each couples individual style and tell a story of who they are in their images is what makes my job so wonderful. One of my brides wore red shoes with her white gown. I think it’s doing things like this, however bold or subtle is what makes your special day truly yours. As for colour palette, pastels are in fashion this season. I think pastels with little touches of metallic are always a great option for colour themes.
I think the most important question couples should ask when top tip... choosing a photographer is if they are willing to be flexible. All
photographers have their own way of shooting, but a great wedding photographer will be able to adapt to tailoring their style to accommodate everything you want your day to be. This means being flexible on timing, locations, extending their hours if needed and remembering to capture all your special requests on the day; like a special person who has flown a long way to attend the wedding, a detail shot of special family jewellery or antiques, or capturing a shot that is really meaningful to you.

Create your design on a computer. Print your design out on paper to the same size you require. About Âź of an A4 page.

Take your design to an art shop and ask them to create a screen. Jacksons in Northbridge offer this service, for around $10.

Attach your screen to a frame.
Cut your fabric in to 25 cm strips and mark out the lengths in 25cm intervals and screenprint your design.

Allow to dry and then cut to size. 25cmx25cm plus a second piece of calico the same size for the back.

Coloured stones, either as a centre stone or surrounding stones are popular and can make a design unique and personal to the wearer. One clever design we did for a customer recently was set a semiprecious gemstone which held sentimental value to our customer inside his and her wedding bands, so that the outside of the band looked very clean and streamlined but the inside held their little secret.
It’s really important to carefully consider what your wedding jewellery is going to be on your day because they can be pieces that you’ll wear forever and no matter where you go you’ll always have a reminder of your love and the incredible experiences you enjoyed on your wedding day. 14 | designer spotlight

Tape the centre of the plate on both surfaces. Find the centre of the plate using the ruler and mark with a cross.

Place the plate on a firm level surface and pour in a little water. With your friend holding the rim of the plate steady you are now ready to drill slowly, slowly through the plate.

a fun alternative to flowers, button buttonieres make a gorgeous keepsake and can be created in any colour palette
you will need:
+ 25 yellow buttons + 12 grey beads wire 28g (0.3mm) + 6 x 20cm lengths of florist + white parafilm tape + wire cutters + 1 x flat head steel pin + 1 x teardrop pearl pin

Cover each piece of wire with parafilm tape. Start just in from one end and work your way down to the other. Stretch the parafilm tape as you go to ensure it sticks.

To create your first stem, fold a piece of coated wire in half, then thread a button onto the wire, 'clicking' it into place at the top. Thread on a second button. Hold the wires together at the base and wrap with parafilm tape to secure the buttons in place.
Arrange your stems as shown, and wrap with parafilm tape to secure.
Trim the excess wire with wire cutters. Use your parafilm tape to cover over the cut ends of the wire, you may need to do this several times to ensure there aren't any sharp bits.
Add a pearl head pin for attaching to lapel and you are finished!!
Create three more buttoned stems, threading a different number of buttons on each one, so that you end up with two long stems for the back and two shorter ones for the front.

Long beaded stem - thread the wire through the first bead, fold in half and thread both pieces of wire through remaining beads. Hold beads in place by wrapping the wires with parafilm tape several times.

Short beaded stem - thread beads onto a flat head steel pin. Then attach a piece of wire to the pin by wrapping with parafilm tape, this will add length and hold beads in place.

A born and bred Albany girl I moved to Perth at the age of 22 to further my career with BankWest (or R&I as it was back then!). I spent 15 years with BankWest and enjoyed a varied career starting as a fresh faced teller straight out of highschool, to teaching new inductees into the bank in Human Resources, to managing my own customer service centres and sector. Along with a stint in project management the skills I developed certainly come in handy today with my own business.
Our Spice Lily label was born seven years ago after three years of jewellery parties under the ‘Boxt Jewels’ label. A lot of thought was put into the name ‘Spice Lily’ and it envelops ‘edgy femininity with an everchanging variety of designs’. I design all jewellery and it is all proudly handmade here in Perth. I value all of my clients and enjoy a casual and friendly relationship with the lovely ladies I meet whilst offering a professional service.
favourite piece right now... This would have to be our ‘Lauren’ cuffs. They are designed with a range of Swarovski pearls and edged with romantic tulle. I guess their whimsical look, mixed with a modern style make them my favourite piece. They also look fantastic in the wedding photos which, I think, is so important when a bride looks back over her photos years down the track.
favourite look this year... I have loved the bright oranges, deep burgundies and champagnes that have been coming through my studio in the last 12 months. But…the return of floaty pastel dresses of greens, yellows and pale pinks are really ringing my bell!

A necklace is often too much with a heavily embroidered bodice. The jewellery should complement the dress not compete with it.

The style of earrings a lady wears is very much part of her personality. If you don’t have any large, funky fashionable earrings in your jewellery box then steer clear of them for the big day. You may regret it years down the track when you open your wedding album!

To bracelet or not to bracelet? Completely depends on the dress. Sometimes a necklace, earring and bracelet set will be overdoing it. Just earrings and a bracelet can look fabulous.

Hair pieces. I love them! A stylish hair piece can ‘finish off’ the most beautiful hair style. Something at the back of the head can also give the guests (and of course husband to be) to admire as they watch the bride walk up the aisle or dance the night away.

Pearls can be a beautiful part of your wedding style. I cannot remember the amount of times a bride to be has wanted clear crystal, only to walk out with a pearl or two in the design as they compliment their skin so much more. Clear crystal can often ‘get lost’ on a person. Give pearls a go and we promise….as much as we love our Grandmas…you won’t look like her!
