If I’m questioning my work and where I am going, I use it as a positive influence to make changes, and challenge ideas.

favourite and least favourite things about owning a creative business The two things that I love about my business is the flexibility that it allows and the modelling I am providing for my/our boys. On every level this is so important for our family. We have made a choice, that may not be financially rewarding … yet … but allows us to show our boys it is important to do what you love and makes you feel alive, before anything else. Without a doubt there are times when I question if I should head back to teaching for a better income, but ultimately I wouldn’t be happy. My hubby and I have decided that there are numerous ways to dish up bolognese sauce. So, bolognese sauce as pasta, nacho’s, jacket potatoes, on rice, schnitzel style it is ^_^. To be 100% honest I do not feel that there is a negative, or least favourite thing about owning a creative business. One of my biggest life lessons has been that you always turn a negative into a positive. So if something arises that I’m not happy with, and it does happen often, I work out a way I can use it to work in my favour. If I can’t, I let it go.

favourite books & websites Without question I LOVE INSTAGRAM! For anyone running a creative business I feel it is such an amazing app/community for quick visual reference, inspiration, motivation and support. I also use Facebook as a medium to reach more people and share my work. Both Instagram and Facebook have been instrumental in Dandelyne moving forward. Blogs and websites I follow, and adore, include TED.com (awesomeness and then some), Create & Thrive (Jess Van Den), Meet Me At Mikes (Pip Lincolne), Martha Stewart (love her craftiness) and so many more. I have three embroidery books that do not leave my side. They are the “Mary Thomas’s Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches” (Hodder & Stoughton), “Stitch Dictionary by Lucinda Ganderton and Embroidery Stitches by Mary Webb.
