WITH THE ALL NEW PATTERN BAR

hether you’re a lost angel, traveling tourist or community anchor, Downtown agrees, the Pattern Bar is the number one favorite bar destination in Fashion District. Located on the southwest corner of 9th Street (where Spring and Main collide), the Pattern Bar, also known as the House of Agave, has reopened with a thriving heartbeat of house musics, lite bites and finest selection of eclectic agave spirits around. Still sexy, sultry, and as stimulating as ever despite all the changes in operations the bar had to deal with, The Pattern Bar has been able to make quite a comeback thanks to managing partner, brand and marketing manager Misael Villa and his incredible team.

Misa, Mark , Denise

Five year Pattern Bar verteran and mixologist, Mark Vail is showcasing his third menu to date. His menus have included beverages named after famous designers in the past, like “the Channel” as well as their new agave based menu featuring "the Spell Bound" a mix of mezcal los Javis, strawberries and rhubarb bitters topped with a leaf of burning sage. A unique way to purify the energy inside the Pattern Bar’s 100 year-old Historic location.

The mid-sized room is rightfully designed with an open-air industrial feel reminiscent of days of old. It’s interior colors center mostly around black and white call attention to the room’s dual pillars, centered mirrors, and wide black vinyl booth seating located directly across from the black paint bar with row of with black iron bar stools. Large bay windows open the place to fresh air and natural light comes in from all directions illuminating the venue from its high ceilings to its vintage black and white checkered floor.

Providing harmonious house music, with ‘delicioso' drinks, has always been a successful combination at the Pattern Bar. Recently the bar has added one of LAs favorite vegan street food vendors. Alchemy Organica is now serving their magnificent mexican vegan menu on Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays and their neighbors verdaderos crazy tacos Wednesday and Thursday.

os Angeles County recently moved to the RED TIER in the State's Blueprint for a Safer Economy that allowed the County to reopen several key sectors Monday including, DTLA museums, gyms, movie theaters, and indoor dinning at restaurants.

And you know what that means....? Downtown LA is BACK AT IT! Required safety measures in place including masking and distancing requirements in hopes California can remain in the red tier for three consecutive weeks before moving to the less restrictive orange tier, even if the County's metrics align sooner with the orange tier.

L.A. County’s daily case rate must be at, or below 3.9 new cases per 100,000 people, and the County's test positivity rate must be at, or below 4.9% for two consecutive weeks to qualify for the orange tier. Visit publichealth. lacounty.gov to learn more.

pattern bar cont... What could be better than music and food paired with your favorite beverage? How about a gourmet coffee shop in the same place? Starting sooner than later you will be able to enjoy fresh, cultivated coffee from 7am 2pm. All in all, the Pattern Bar is a sure fire win for a good time. Not to mention the fact that

you could easily recognize one of your favorite celebrities or famed fashion designers sipping a cocktail from time to time. The tantalizing trio of food, drinks, and tunes make for an enjoyable afternoon, evening and soon to be morning, giving DTLA the option to begin the day or end it at the Pattern Bar during some of DTLAs happiest hours. he allure of Grand Central Market has stood the test of time for over one hundred years.

make-shift outdoor setups, leaving it on some days an empty shell compared to its usual heavy foot traffic, food hall filled with hungry patrons eager to wait in line for their favorite eats. Over the past year, many vendors of GCM managed to hold fast and weather the storm. While others may have shuttered, GCM managed to welcome a few new valued additions.

Opened in 1917, the market has always reflected the changing population of downtown offering everything from grocery, fresh fish, delis, and butchers, to baked goods, flowers, coffee, and the biggest variety of food vendors in the city, spanning every corner of the culinary spectrum.

Now open at 25% capacity, you can bet GCM vendors will welcome the added pickup in foot traffic. The market, which spans a city block between Broadway and Hill Streets, is once again slowly becoming the gathering place, tourist destination, and historical landmark and for many cultures who frequent all year round.

Despite its popularity, GCM, like the rest of Downtown, had never faced such obstacles as we all faced this past year. The 30,000 square-foot food emporium and retail marketplace was forced to toggle back and forth between limited capacity and reopening, held together thanks to delivery apps and

ever miss a chance to visit Little Jewel of New Orleans in Ord and Spring in Chinatown now that they've reopened. If you do, you'll be missing out on one of DTLAs most critically acclaimed Southern food destinations. Little Jewel is famous for its oyster and shrimp Po'Boy sandwiches but also for those" harder to find" items from Louisiana (and the South in general) that have the ability to bring back memories or transport you straight to New Orleans during Marci Gras on Fat Tuesday.

CHINATOWN

Although the Jewel still open for pickup and delivery only when they do reopen at a limited capacity, the town will again get to sit inside one of our most beloved ole-good time shacks. The brightly colored interior is sure to remind us of better days thanks to the many photos of happy patrons along with the colorful hand-painted mural menu listing all of Little Jewel's town favorites; catfish, crawfish, jambalaya and more. Little Jewel is one part market, one part deli, and three parts delicious as they make all their Boudin, Andouille, Chaurice, Hot Sausage and Tasso from scratch as well as their baked goods, desserts, and dressings.

o sooner did Nick + Stef's reopen its outdoor patio did the town get word of reopening indoor dining at a limited capacity.

Still, Nick + Stef's managed to create one of the most delightful night outs, rain or shine, in the healing process. Fire pits and space heaters aren't the only fixtures that warm the air, as the staff is always attentive, friendly and prompt in providing guests with the ultimate dining experience the brand is known for. Executive Chef Megan Logan prepares an extensive menu of starters, salads, entrees, begins with N+S Crab Cakes, a lump Maryland crab, creamy grainmustard sauce, with a scallion puree and continues into a list of in-house dry-aged and imported steaks, including the town's favorite cuts of Wagyu.

F

inally, Downtown can enjoy dining indoors' comforts leaving behind the cold sting of winter winds while trying to enjoy our favorite meals among friends. Better yet, while finding inside of 10E, guests will find it's not only the plates of Mediterranean and Armenian cuisine but dining inside the floor level of the iconic landmark, the Fine Arts Building, built in 1927. Lebanese wines and handcrafted cocktails pair well with their numerous halal kebabs, famed hummus, vegetarian and seafood dishes.

Sides includes JBS Mashed Potatoes and N+S Mac + Cheese with Gruyere, chives, and Charred Brussels Sprouts. Elevate your experience at this Bunker Hill fine destination with seasonal craft cocktails, artisan beers, sparkling, white, and red wines all hand-picked by Patina Restaurant Group Founder Joachim Splichal. Once Nick + Stef's reopens the inside dining area, surely guests will be able to peer inside their see-through windows that display the restaurant's choice cuts while they age. Also, seen behind the tempered glass sits rows of the eatery's notable award-winning wine collection. The tip to the iceberg, so to speak, as only a few hundred bottles are actually seen, with the remainder held in a separate hidden cellar.

longside the single, the pair are releasing a live version which completes the trilogy of collaborative performances shot and recorded at the end of 2020. Off the back of her debut club-ready single, “Sweating” and a feature on Little Simz’s “where’s my lighter,” Alewya’s music has been praised by the likes of The FADER, FACT, V Magazine, DAZED, The Face, Crack, UPROXX, Dancing Astronaut, Gal-Dem and much more. Moses Boyd is a pioneering light of the exuberant young London jazz scene whose critically acclaimed debut album Dark Matter was praised for its collision of jazz with contemporary dancefloor dynamics and nominated for a coveted 2020 Mercury Prize. Moses says on the collaboration "My favourite moments in the studio are those when the flow is seamless and doesn't need to be explained. We made 'The Code' within minutes of jamming together and it was just that, seamless. I knew we would have great musical chemistry and it's been refreshing to

I know she has so much more great music to come." “This track came so naturally,” Alewya adds. “Moses has a way of understanding musical language and weeding it out of you - I was truly grateful for it. The Code is essentially a song sung by the observer in me observing the shadow of me. Captures what we as a collective and individually are going through - an intense dark night of the soul.” Growing up, Alewya absorbed a wide range of musical influences from her diverse community in West London, and from her Egyptian father raised in Sudan and Ethiopian mother, acting as the foundations to her musical palette. Her ear for music was harnessed by the exported sounds of Ethiopian and Arabic devotional music from her parents, to the vibrations of ambient alternative rock music felt through the walls of her older brother’s bedroom, and from UK club culture as well as the Latinx scene in New York. Both her music and art are deep broodings through euphoria, heartache, melancholy and back again.
