Here are a few Christian movies to keep a look out for this summer. Don’t miss out on these challenging tales to encourage your faith.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

In Sony Pictures Animation’s The Star, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. Together with his newfound animal friends, Bo becomes one of the unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas. A wholesome family movie with a new spin on the birth of Christ – in cinemas from mid-November.

THE STAR

This revolutionary film is about an atheist female scientist, Dr Beatrix Cera (played by actress Diana Angelson), who eventually learns that faith can absolutely create miracles. The newly-completely apocalyptic drama follows the fight of Dr Cera as she finds her way through a world on the brink of extinction. In her attempt to save the world, she finds herself in a violent struggle between good and evil.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 68

Mary Magdalene is a prominent biblical figure and this movie, named after this iconic follower of Christ, focuses on her life, scheduled for release early 2018. Mary Magdalene is an upcoming American-BritishAustralian biblical drama film written by Helen Edmundson and Philippa Goslett, directed by Garth Davis. It stars Rooney Mara, Joaquin Phoenix, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tahar Rahim. Keep an eye out for this life-changing drama on the big screen.

ALL SAINTS

All Saints is based on the inspiring true story of salesman-turnedpastor Michael Spurlock (John Corbett), the tiny church he was ordered to shut down, and a group of refugees from Southeast Asia. Together, they risk everything to plant seeds for a future that might just save them all. It is a heartfelt faith-based movie about stepping out of one’s comfort zone and finding hope for a better future. Available locally through Humble Pie Entertainment and in cinemas from mid November 2017.

MARY MAGDALENE

From the Erwin Brothers (Mom’s Night Out, Woodlawn) comes the true story behind the record-breaking song, ‘I Can Only Imagine’. The inspiring tale follows the life story of MercyMe lead singer, Bart Millar, who at a young age, lost his father to cancer, which inspired the song. His journey brings ultimate hope to many as a gripping reminder of the power of true forgiveness. I Can Only Imagine stars Dennis Quaid (Soul Surfer) and Trace Adkins (Mom’s Night Out).
