November 9– 13 at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City Oregno was the place to be. Those who were there will have many cherished memories from witnessing the WPBA (Women’s Professional Billiards Association) first hand—up close and personal— just like they’ve always seen on TV. All week long the Pro’s intermingled among the amateurs and spectators telling stories and giving autographs, doing challenges, and playing in the mini’s when ever an opportunity came about.

Starting out with a Pro-Am on Wednesday November 9th: 48 amateurs pre-selected from past pool and winner’s circle events plus OPAL-APA were tripled up with a WPBA pro. Selected OPAL-APA players were: Andy & Harriett Guthrie, Don Jones, Kristin Cambas, Maxine Buhler, Claire Lewis, Anton Renz, and James Moore from Salem.

On Thursday Nov. 10th the Modified Single elimination “Early Bird” 9-Ball Scotch Doubles both top spots were won by Seattle teams. “Come On Just Have 1” with Dan Gates & Rich Vanderwoulden won 1st and $750. “Accidental Defense” with Will King & Jonathan Gablehouse won $550, for taking 2nd place.

While the final Pro-Am playoff was underway Steve Tipton the WPBA tournament director, opened up the room for Pro-Am Challenges. Any amateur could pay and challenge a WPBA pro. For $20 an amateur challenger could pick the pro he or she wished to challenge. For $10 the tournament staff picked the pro that the amateur would play—based on whoever happened to
