Program

EIC foreword It is my pleasure to welcome you to the second edition of EIC Connect Energy Mexico. We return to Mexico during some very interesting, albeit, challenging times for the oil and gas industry. Contracts awarded since the Energy Reform are moving forward and providing opportunities across the value chain. Mexico now has over 70 international market participants, however Pemex remains the main buyer with the majority of anticipated CAPEX in Mexico. EICDataStream is currently tracking 75 active and future oil and gas projects in Mexico totalling an expected investment of approximately US$100.8bn. In light of the administration’s targets, how does the oil and gas industry in Mexico fill the needed gap in investment over the next decade; and what does this environment mean for the future Mexican energy market? EIC Connect continues to bring together major operators, contractors, and suppliers to discuss the opportunities and challenges around Mexico’s energy future. We appreciate our speakers and one-toone meeting hosts from some of the major players such as: Arendal, Department for International Trade, Equinor, Fluor, Grupo R, ICA, McDermott, MODEC, Premier Oil, Shell, Subsea 7, Transocean, Turner & Townsend, Wood and XWELLS. •2•

We are honoured to have her Majesty’s Ambassador to Mexico, Corin Robertson, open the conference and welcome 2020 delegates. Following this, the New Mexican Energy Market plenary session will provide insight into market trends across all sectors, as well as discuss the current social, political and economic considerations for market participation. Strategic partnership is a specific area that provides opportunity to overcome challenges of doing business in Mexico; the Partnership for Success panel will focus on viewpoints from the operator, contractor and finance communities. At the heart of EIC Connect are the Briefing Sessions which provide the supply chain with insight on how best to position itself to win business in the region. Finally, the oneto-one meeting sessions facilitate necessary connections for strategic discussions within the margins of EIC Connect. The EIC takes seriously the challenges facing our member companies and the industry at large. EIC staff are available to provide EICDataStream demos and membership benefit overviews. On behalf of EIC members, our CEO and board of directors, we express our sincere gratitude to our advisory board, sponsors, and supporting partners and organisations. Without your support, we would not be able to deliver our unique not-for-profit initiatives. Thank you and good luck for a successful and productive EIC Connect Energy Mexico. Amanda Duhon Regional Director, North & Central America

Ambassador’s foreword On behalf of the UK government, I am pleased to introduce and welcome you to the second EIC Connect Energy Mexico. It is sure to be a fully packed day of networking, gaining knowledge, and identifying potential business opportunities in the region. This Connect Mexico event will provide an arena for dialogue and ensure that delegates, speakers, and sponsors gain insight into current and future opportunities for the oil and gas supply chain. The UK and Mexico have a special relationship. Mexico provides for a unique investment opportunity for international energy companies, large and small. Contracting activity is increasing as major development plans are being approved. With an estimated US$200 billion in investment opportunity, the UK energy supply chain is strategically positioned to close an array of supply chain gaps in the local market, thereby providing for foreign direct investment and strategic partnerships, to provide local content and push projects forward. A major focus of EIC Connect Energy Mexico is to identify supply chain gaps within the oil and gas sector in the region, to promote the excellence and know-how of the UK energy supply chain to operators, contractors and service providers in Mexico, and ensure UK-interest around bilateral trade to Mexico is realised.

CONNECT Energy Mexico

The Energy Industries Council has shown a significant commitment to the North & Central America region over the last 20 years, and indeed to British companies operating across the entire energy supply chain. To be sure, of the EIC’s current membership of over 700 companies, 128 EIC member companies have an office or representation in Mexico. This is providing direct investment to the Mexican economy and creating local jobs in the country. The EIC and the British Embassy Mexico City also have a long-standing relationship. Energy is a major focus for the Department for International Trade (DIT), and we constantly call upon the EIC for market and project insight, the EIC regularly refers its members to our team for additional support through our DIT services, we collaborate globally around overseas trade delegations (as the trade delegation we have here for the week), national exhibitions, and we are generally, great friends. There is no other event like Connect in Mexico, as it has a distinct focus on the supply chain; and I am sure it will be of the highest value to the UK energy supply chain and industry stakeholders. Corin Robertson British Ambassador to Mexico
