Scott Rouse, a recluse in his 70‘s was bound, gagged, blindfolded and left for dead in his farmhouse in July 1929. He was found 3 days later and ultimately died in the hospital. But there are many mysteries shrouding this event…Have you heard who the suspects are?

The Rouse house was on the Lincoln Highway, boarded up, and there was a sign at the entrance reading: ―No women and children allowed.‖ Did he hate women and children?

The scene of the crime presented some interesting items: broken ax, one brown ladies glove, windshield of a model T Ford automobile, open safety deposit box, working man‘s boot that was bigger than Rouse‘s size. Could these all be clues? Are there other things that the sheriff has not told us about?

The Toledo Chronicle reported that Rouse‘s last words were: ―Three old men.‖ Do you think he meant to say that three old men killed him? Do you think the three old men who did it are here tonight?

Rouse was seldom seen in town; he lived off the fertile Tama soil farming potatoes, corn, tomatoes, chicken, and cows. He must have been very poor? But four years prior to his murder, things started deteriorating. What happened?

Rouse‘s dad was rumored to have started a bootlegging operation in the area, and that is how Whiskey Bottom got its name.

Rouse‘s favorite pie was cherry. I wonder if there will be cherry pie here tonight?
