MURDER AT WHISKEY BOTTOM Written by: Zane Dreesman This is the fourth article in the Murder at Whiskey Bottom. As those of you who have been following the articles know that we have been discussing the various aspects of life in 1929, today we will be speaking about the food they would have eaten. Generally back in the 1920's they would have eaten a meat, such as fried chicken, pot roast, and pork, along with a potato, vegetable, and dessert. Potatoes were a necessary part of the meal. They were easy to raise and could be mashed, fried, or baked. Pies were a popular dessert because most farms had an apple tree, cherry tree, or peach tree. The fruit was dried, canned, preserved, or made into pies. Most of the meat they ate came from the farm; they would have raised their own cattle, pigs, and chickens. The vegetables would have come from the garden and were also canned.

Clue I am Rouse's favorite pie, what kind am I?

At the play we will be serving an authentic 1929 dinner. Please come hungry and ready for a night of fun!
