MURDER AT WHISKEY BOTTOM Written by: Zane Dreesman This is a continuation of our special edition Murder in Whiskey Bottom series. So far we have discussed the actual case and some of the people who might have been around at the time. This week our topic will be about the estate of Scott Rouse. Scott Rouse owned 94-99 acres of land in the western edge of Whiskey Bottom valley, the land was quite close to the Indian settlement.

CLUE: Corn hung from the ceiling, when Rouse was found it had been eaten. Who, or what could have eaten it?

The land had been farmed up until about three and a half years before the murder by Rouse and various farm hands; after that the land had gone to grass and weeds. On the southern edge of the property there was a small house and barn. Rouse also owned four steer and a handful of chickens. On October 30th there will be an estate sale out at Pilgrim Heights; a dinner will be served with a side dish of good, old fashioned fun!

Come help solve the murder at Whiskey Bottom. The original Tama County Mystery from 1929 has never been solved, by that may all change at the estate full of characters, and good old fashioned Tama County food and hospitality. Each attendee will be given a 1929 character inspired by the Tama County history books, info to share, and secrets to protect (but no lies allowed!!!). For eight weeks, Starting Sept 9, 2010, clues to the story and your character will appear in the Tama/Grundy Newspapers and/or online: www.tamacountyiowa.org/mystery2010.
