LEAD GRANTWRITER The Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa, a federally-recognized Indian Tribe, is located just west of Tama, Iowa, along U.S. Highway 30. The tribe’s home is known as the Meskwaki Indian Settlement, and is nestled along the Iowa River in Tama County. Tribal Administration is comprised of an Executive Management Office that oversees fifteen departments, most of which provide direct services to the community. The tribe also boasts a class III gaming operation and convenience store as its current economic engines. (See Meskwaki.org & Meskwaki.com) The Lead Grant Writer will be responsible for developing grant writing objectives, writing, researching and submitting grant applications. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage grant writing objectives and priorities on behalf of the Tribe. Research potential funding sources for all tribal programs. Develop and coordinate the preparation of grant proposals for newaor existing Tribal programs. Prepares and submits grant applications to ensure funding of various programs. Reviews contracts and enabling legislation enacted for accepting grants and prepares reports and correspondence as required. Assures that ongoing required reporting and contract administration are completed for funding awards. Meets appropriate federal, state, local and other funding agencies to secure additional funding resources. Reviews and maintains literature and files of potential funding sources. Communicates opportunities for funding to all Tribal departments and programs on a periodic basis. Discusses program requirements, goals and objectives, and funding guidelines and procedures with appropriate staff. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in planning, communications, public or business administration, social sciences or related field and five years experience in grant writing, research, contract administration, technical writing, or fundraising OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
