2018 Winters High School Graduates attend Tarleton State University where I hope to be graduating from the Honors program with a major in Biomedical Science. After completing my first four years of college, I would like to attend medical school in Georgia where I can then become a successful Pediatrician. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years, I long to be happily married, with a successful job as a Pediatrician in LaGrange, Georgia. I see myself living in a beautified, welcoming neighborhood, with an English bulldog that I can call my best friend. I envision myself working for a clinic then eventually owning or partnering with a family friend who owns a clinic for kids.

Heriberto Nicholas Marin III Parents: Jose and Ann Vega Grandparents: Nato and Elena Vasquez Activities, Honors & Achievements: Varsity football 2-4, 2nd Team All-District Defensive Lineman 4; Varsity track 2-3 Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy being with family and friends, playing with my niece, and playing video games. Most influenced by & why: I’ve been influenced mostly by my older sister Gabby Pena. She has been a role model of mine for many reasons, for example her work ethic. She has had very hard times in her life but continued to work through it. She has a child, a fulltime job, and moved into her own home all while going to college. She has helped me in my hard times to keep me moving forward no matter how badly I wanted to quit. Most memorable moment: My most memorable moment is when I realized that the football team and I had made it into the playoffs and then getting to play in that playoff game even when I wasn’t supposed to. Future plans: I plan on moving out on my own and going to college and figuring out what I want to do with my life. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years, I see myself having already graduated college, having a good job, and having my own family.

Brookalina Marie Martinez Parents: Dudley Rainey and Monica Ellis Grandparents: Juan Martinez and Gloria Ramirez; the late L.V. and Johnnie B. Rainey Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my Dad and our yellow lab, Saibul, my aunt Ruth, cousin Kiesha and her son L.J., as well as our uncle, Uncle Bonez - James. I enjoy almost all things art such as drawing, painting, singing, writing songs, poems, and even plays; and I love to dance, and read. I mow and sometimes I like to go for walks around town. Most influenced by & why: My Dad is definitely the most influential person I know personally. He speaks nothing but wisdom and many, many old sayings to motivate me, to keep pushing even if there seems to be no obstacle in my way. He has helped me during tough times and kept me smiling when all I wanted to do was frown. I thank him for all the time and love and devotion he has invested in me to get me where I am today. Most memorable moment: The most memorable moment would have to be when I sang at Glacier Ceremony my freshmen year. I was terrified, and it took the most effort to open my mouth and start letting loose a melody, but I’m glad I did because my entire class as well as those above me and my Dad showed great support and I can honestly say I’d love nothing more than to relive that moment again and again. It wasn’t just my moment, it was our moment. Everyone who clapped, to those who stood, though I’m almost certain that it was staged, I congratulate you because you helped me. You made it easier to be myself. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart, I really do. I wouldn’t have been able to go through with it if I hadn’t saw the shocked looks on many of your faces. Future plans: I plan on going to college to advance my education and start a career I love, which includes interior design and garden design. I want to be creative where I haven’t been creative before and go places I’ve never gone before and having a job in the line of arts will most definitely bring life to my hopes and dreams and turn them into a reality once I put in the hard work. I follow the motto from The Princess and The Frog, “wishing upon a star will only get you so far; you have to get the rest of the way through hard work.” And if my Daddy taught me anything it’s to work hard for

what you want and appreciate what I’ve got. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself and possibly a husband surrounded by three, four, five, six or ten kids in a modern home just on the outskirts of a large town and small city. I may have been raised a country girl, but I like to live big. The mortgage will be paid off, a decent year modeled car will be paid off, and we’ll have steady income with a bit of spending money for family nights. I’ll have a high position in an architect and landscaping company and work for high rollers who wants to add a little creativity and life to their homes, garden, etc. My family and I will make monthly trips back here to Winters to see my Dad and the rest of the family and friends like Freda Gibbs and her niece Sonya Belk. I can just picture nothing but laughs and sunshine and butterflies and unicorns because time spent with family should always be surreal.
