COMMISSION ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Approved the Purchase of new vehicle and beach Kubota 4WD funded by Resort Tax to be used by Community Service Aids in support of beach and commercial district areas.

Discussed the Surfside Heroes Appreciation Month proclamation that will be presented next month to the first responders of the June 24, 2021 building collapse.

Amended the upcoming Election Qualifying Dates due to the March 19, 2024 Presidential Preference Primary to be in alignment with Miami Dade County rates.

Proposed a process to streamline various planning and zoning as well as Building review by allowing Town administration to review various items currently approved at Planning and Zoning Board (i.e., fences, pools, commercial business signage and awnings).

Passed ordinance on Stormwater Management Regulatory Mechanism giving Code officers the ability to enforce violations that contaminate streets and natural bodies of water.

Adopted resolution for a multi-year Cellular Water Meter Plan to replace the Town’s aging battery-operated transponder system encoder. The new system allows residents to monitor their water consumption through their mobile phones. Approved purchase for year two of three-year program.
