nation of identifiable spaces or forms, which then become covered over or obliterated by abstraction. This seems to me to be the way one might experience a wildfire – trees and structures visible at one moment and then swiftly caught up in the dancing shapes of flame and smoke. I had been looking for an opportunity to work with these digital techniques in video for some time. When the wildfire subject matter presented itself, it felt completely in line with this painterly abstract approach to moving image. The audio track is equally as abstract with moments suggesting winds and crackling fire. The soundtrack creates an ambient space layered with tension and foreboding.
