Managing Your Time

Organization is key Planning and ensuring you have enough time will guarantee you a stress-less experience. No one wants to study for two hours consistently. If you space out your study time, it’ll be less of a hassle For example:

1hr Study Session - 30m Break

30m Study Session - 10m to 15m Break

15m Study Session - 3m to 5m Break

⋆ ˚ 。⋆୨୧ ˚NOTE: It’s good to record your lectures during class. If you don’t know, Notability has a recording feature! Allow the app to use and access your microphone in the settings app!

Make note cards and study sheets Making studying enjoyable will help you stay organized and better memorize information.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

If you, as a student, get no rest AND do not eat breakfast, this will surely affect your performance level If you feel nervous, you should eat a light breakfast, as eating something heavy may heighten your anxiety. Make sure to stay hydrated throughout the day as well. It is important that you make a conscious effort to be healthy both in and out of the classroom

Do NOT Cram!

Cramming before a test or class can stress you out If you don’t understand how to do something and a test is tomorrow, it is highly recommended that you ask your teacher in advance.

Review notes every day after school! When you review and write your notes you retain information This is better than cramping the night before You can revise notes before school, at lunch, or whatever free time you have!

Do Not Be Afraid To Ask For Help

It may seem embarrassing at first, but if you don’t understand something, ASK YOUR TEACHER! You can ask them before class, after class, or at a time that works best for both of you.

P.S. Members of the National Honors Society (NHS) tutor students before and after school! Don’t be afraid to stop by and ask for assistance!

Study With Friends

When you study with others, it makes the task feel less like a chore. Keeping one another accountable, ontask, and motivated is one of the best ways to develop healthy studying habits Make it fun! Quiz one another, make fun study games, and don’t forget to take breaks.

Choose an Effective Location

Having a good study-slash-work space can help you focus more. Believe it or not, lighting, spaciousness, comfort, and volume level are all important things to take into consideration when choosing a workspace Studies show that if you have a nice workspace, you will work far more diligently and remain motivated.

Utilize Studying Techniques

There are several effective studying methods out there that scholars have developed and used to reach and perform at their fullest potential. Here are a few that have been deemed some of the best!

“PQ4R Method” (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, and Review)
