Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is approved by the FDA to help in healing many chronic wounds.

Study Volunteers Needed

Preliminary studies have indicated that HBOT may be effective in treating mild to moderate traumatic brain injury.

FDA-Approved Hyperbaric Multi-place Chamber Traumatic Brain Injuries occur every day in the United States from vehicle accidents, physical violence or abuse, sports injuries and more.

The non-profit International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation is conducting a study to determine whether HBOT can heal wounded brains.

Many of the problems that stem from untreated brain injuries can cause:

The International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation is seeking volunteers who have been diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI)/PostConcussion Syndrome (PCS) and TBI/ Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) .

This is an observational study. All participants in the study will receive HBOT.

• Unemployment • Homelessness • Incarceration • Violent behavior • Family problems including divorce • Addiction The RAND Corporation estimates an astonishing 600,000 veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan may have traumatic brain injuries. It’s likely many other people have had a concussion or other brain injury and may not know it.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an FDA-approved medical treatment that saturates the body with pure oxygen under pressure. It is a low risk treatment that has been shown to help in healing certain chronic wounds. The National Brain Injury Rescue and Rehabilitation Project is studying whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy can repair brain injuries safely and effectively. Whether your brain injury was recent or in the past, you may qualify to participate in this study.

NBIRR is Studying Biological Repair for Brain Injury

Failure to effectively treat brain injury can result in life-long problems with brain function. It can lead to depression, job loss, domestic violence, substance abuse, homelessness, and even suicide. Even a single episode of head trauma has been shown to cause injury to the brain.

Some Wounds Never Heal

Brain Injuries Can Linger for Years If you’ve ever had a concussion… If you were ever exposed to an explosion or blast… If you’ve been diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)/PostConcussion Syndrome (PCS) and TBI/ Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)… You may be eligible to participate in a study to find out if oxygen under pressure can heal wounds in the brain.
