ANDREAS BORREGAARD

(DK, 1981) spiller klassisk akkordeon, et instrument, som de færreste forbinder med klassisk musik. Borregaard startede med at spille akkordeon som 5-årig og havde sin solodebut som 26-årig med BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Andreas Borregaard har gennem en lang karrriere som solist og kammermusiker kommunikeret akkordeonets fascinerende kvaliteter og brede pallette af udtryk. Han samarbejder med komponister fra hele Europa som Jennifer Walshe, Bent Sørensen og Niels Rønsholdt og er med til at påvirke og udbrede brugen af akkordeon.

Andreas Borregaard plays the classical accordion, an instrument that few people link to classical music. Andreas is deeply attracted to the remarkably strong immersive quality of music. Borregaard started playing the accordion at the age of 5 and had his international solo debut at age 26 with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Through an extensive career as soloist and chamber musician, Andreas Borregaard communicates the accordion’s fascinating qualities and palette of expressions to a wide audience. He collaborates with composers from all over Europe such as Jennifer Walshe, Bent Sørensen and Niels Rønsholdt and is actively influencing the development of this young instrument’s use and repertoire.

ANNA BERIT ASP CHRISTENSEN

(DK, 1971) er kunstnerisk leder af Scenatet, direktør for SPOR Festival, iscenesætter og kurator med stærke rødder i både klassisk og ny musik. Hendes kunstneriske praksis er præget af en stadig undersøgelse af den eksperimenterende kunstmusiks spændvidde og placering på samtidskunstscenen. I hendes værker ses der ofte et særligt fokus på rum; rum som psykologi og rum som offentlig sfære.

Anna Berit Asp Christensen is the artistic manager of Scenatet, manager of the SPOR festival, director and curator with strong roots in both classical and contemporary music. Her artistic practice is investigating the experimental art music – and how to stretch both its boundaries and those of the contemporary art scene. In her works she often focuses on space; as a psychological concept and space in the public sphere.

BETWEEN

MUSIC (DK, 2013) skaber og producerer unikke kunstprojekter og innovative performancekoncerter, som er en hybrid mellem musik, liveperformance, visuel kunst, arkitektur og ny teknologi. Gruppen mestrer en bred palette af æstetikker, evner og genrer, men finder mest potentiale i rummet mellem disse. Laila Skovmand er kunstnerisk leder og komponist for Between Music. Hun har en master i sang og performativ komposition fra Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium.

Between Music creates and produces unique art projects and innovative performance concerts in a hybrid of music, live performance, visual arts, architecture and new technology. The group masters a vast range of aesthetics, skills and genres, but finds the most potential in the ever-fluctuating spaces between them. Laila Skovmand is artistic director, composer and performer at Between Music. She has a Master in Singing and Postgraduate in Performative Composition from Royal Academy of Music, Denmark.

CHRISTIAN WINTHER CHRISTENSEN

(DK, 1977) er uddannet komponist fra Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i 2010 under Bent Sørensen, Hans Abrahamsen, Niels Rosing-Schow og Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjærg. Han har været kunstnerisk leder af Klang Festival siden 2012. Han udtaler selv om sine værker: ”For nogle komponister er det vigtigt at ramme en bestemt stil, men stil er noget, der ændrer sig hele tiden. Det vigtigste for mig er, at jeg altid er en del af det, jeg skaber, at jeg bakker op omkring mit arbejde. Det er den eneste måde, min musik kan være personlig, på.”

Christian Winther has studied composition under Bent Sørensen, Hans Abrahamsen, Niels Rosing-Schow og Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjærg at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Since 2012 he was the artistic manager of Klang Festival. Winther says about his compositions: ”For some composers it is important to hit a certain style, but style is ever changing. The most important thing to me is to be part of the piece I create and support my own work. That is the only way for my music to be personal.”

EVA REITER

(AT, 1976) studerede blokfløjte og viola da gamba (skal det oversættes?) på University of Music and Performing Arts i Wien og Sweelinck-Conservatory i Amsterdam med eksamener med højeste udmærkelse. For tiden er hun meget aktiv som solist ud over at optræde med forskellige barokke ensembler, orkestre og samtidsmusikensembler (som fx Ictus og Klangforum Wien). Hun har modtaget en lang række priser som Publicity Preis, Förderungspreis of the City of Vienna, Queen Marie José International Composition Prize, Staats-stipendiet på Federal Chancellery for the Arts, et arbejdslegat på Akademie Schloss Solitude og Erste Bank Kompositionspreis.

Eva Reiter studied recorder and viola da gamba at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and at the Sweelinck-Conservatory in Amsterdam, where she received both master’s degrees ”cum laude”. Currently she is very active giving concerts as a soloist as well as performing with different baroque ensembles, orchestras and with ensembles for contemporary music (among others Ictus and Klangforum Wien). She was awarded the ”Publicity Preis” of the SKE and the Förderungspreis of the City of Vienna, the Queen Marie José International Composition Prize, the Staats stipend of the Federal Chancellery for the Arts, a working stipend at the Akademie Schloss Solitude the Erste Bank Kompositionspreis as well as other prizes.

ICTUS (BE, 1994) er et samtidsmusikensemble baseret i Bruxelles. Ensembler udforsker formater og nye måder at lytte på gennem meget korte og meget lange koncerter, mystiske programmer og guidede koncerter. Ictus har delt og nogle gange forstærket nutidige spørgsmål ift. fremtiden for samtidsmusikken. Ensemblet blev i starten ledt af dirigent Georges-Elie Octors og er senere muteret til et mere elektrisk orkester og har hyret eksempelvis en lydtekniker som instrumentalist. Nu er Ictus et multifacetteret kollektiv af kreative musikere, som er dedikerede til eksperimentelmusik i bredeste forstand. Ictus leder et udvidet masterprogram med fokus på samtidsmusikfortolkning i samarbejde med Ghent School of Arts.

Ictus is a Brussels-based contemporary music ensemble. The ensemble examines formats and ways of listening: very short or very long concerts, mystery programmes, guided concerts. Ictus has shared, and sometimes amplified, current questions about the future of contemporary music. Initially led by conductor Georges-Elie Octors, Ictus mutated into an ”electric orchestra” and hired, for example, a regular sound engineer as an instrumentalist. It then became a multifaceted collective of creative musicians, dedicated to experimental music in the broadest sense. Ictus is conducting an advanced Master’s programme that focuses on contemporary music interpretation, in collaboration with the Ghent School of Arts.

KALAS – IMPROVISATION COLLECTIVE

(2019) er et selvbestaltet netværk af improviserende musikere og performere i Aarhus – centreret om månedlige improviserede koncerter med et udskifteligt line-up af performere. Hver koncert er med både tidligere og nye performere, som måske aldrig har spillet sammen før, og med afsæt i en rå liste af ideer og retninger for programmet. Koncerterne er en eksperimentel platform for udforskning af lydt, bevægelse, udvikling af nye koncepter for musikskabelse og live-interaktion med publikum. Konceptet er skabt for at nære det improviserende miljø i byen ved at give dem en månedlig mulighed for at udforske og dele, fri fra forventningerne i den traditionelle koncertform. Kalas er ikke bundet af en bestemt genre eller musikalsk stil, og performerne kommer fra et bredt spektrum af musikalske baggrunde. Nogle gange vil man opleve et brændende udbrud af fri jazz, andre gange en kakafoni af elektroakustisk larm, følsomme lyduniverser eller munter folkesang.

Kalas is an autonomous network of improvising musicians and performers in Aarhus, built around monthly improvised concerts with an ever-changing line-up of performers. At every concert, old and new performers, who might not have played together before, work off a list of rough ideas for the direction of the performance. The concerts are an experimental platform for exploring sound, movement, developing new conceptions of music-making and live interaction in performance. It is created to nurture the environment of improvisers in the city through a monthly opportunity to explore and share, free from the conventions and expectations of the traditional concert form. Kalas is not bound or restricted by any defined genre or musical style, and the performers come from an array of different musical backgrounds. Sometimes you get a burning burst of energetic free-jazz, sometimes an abrasive cacophony of electroacoustic noise, sometimes delicate ambience or a cheerful folk song.

LOTTE HENRIKSEN

(DK, 1960) har en MA i design fra Designskolen i Kolding med speciale i beklædning. Hendes erfaringer spænder bredt fra kommercielle designjobs i ind- og udland til kunstnerisk udviklingsarbejde. Henriksen er drevet af eoprigtig nysgerrighed og har, som designer, aldrig begrænset sig til bestemte genrer eller materialer. Forenkling er et gennemgående kunstnerisk greb i hendes arbejde, som kendetegnes af et stramt formsprog, sans for materialer og en åben og legende tilgang.

Lotte Henriksen has a master’s degree from Design School Kolding with a focus on clothing. She does a wide variety of jobs from commercial design nationally and abroad to artistic research and development. As a designer, Henriksen is driven by a sincere curiosity and has never limited herself to certain genres or materials. Simplification as a method is omnipresent in her work which is characterised by tight design language, a sense of material, and open playfulness.

LOUISE ALENIUS (DK,

1978) er en dansk klassisk komponist, som arbejder med operaer, balletmusik, korstykker og strygekvartetter samt kommerciel musik. Hun indgår ofte tætte samarbejder med aktører fra andre kunstarter omkring udvikling af større fælles værker, hvor den musikalske fortælling er afgørende. Hun har modtaget flere musikpriser og Reumertnomineringer for sine radikale og innovative værker heriblandt for Porøset på Det Kongelige Teater, korværket Rite of Nothing til Cisternerne, operaen Silent Zone og hendes miniatureopera for døende, Prequiem. Hun modtog i 2019 æresprisen Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsens Legat.

Louise Alenius is a Danish classical composer who works with operas, ballet music, choir pieces and string quartets as well as commercial music. She often works closely with artists from other art forms to create joint pieces with a central musical narrative. She has received several music awards and Reumert-nominations for her radical and innovative work such as Porøset at the Royal Danish Theatre, the choir piece Rite of Nothing for Cisternerne, the opera Silent Zone and her miniature opera for the dying Prequiem. She received the honourary award Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsens Legat in 2019.

MADS EMIL DREYER (DK,

1986) er komponist inden for det elektroakustiske felt og baseret i København. Hans værker er ofte meget kondenserede og minimalistiske, men selvom der på overfladen ikke sker så meget, er der altid noget, der udvikler sig under overfladen. Hans musik er blevet opført i Europa, USA og Asien, og han har været udvalgt til at deltage på festivaler som Dark Music Days, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Young Nordic Music Festival, Klang Festival og Nordic Music Days. Han har modtaget Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsens Talentpris 2019 samt Odd Fellow Music Prize 2019, og har modtaget legater fra Dansk Komponistforening, Augustinus Fonden og Statens Kunstfond. Mads Emil Dreyer is a Copenhagen-based composer working within the field of electroacoustic music. His pieces are often very condensed and minimalistic, but even though very little seem to happen, beneath the surface they’re always developing. His music has been performed in Europe, US, and Asia and has been selected for festivals such as Dark Music Days, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Young Nordic Music Festival, Klang Festival, and Nordic Music Days. He is the recipient of the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Prize 2019 plus the Odd Fellow Music Prize 2019, and has received work grants from Danish Composers’ Society, Augustinus Foundation, and Danish Arts Foundation. He has composed pieces for, among others, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Adapter and Neue Vocalsolisten.

MARCELA LUCATELLI

(BR/DK, 1988) er én af de mest innovative vokalister og komponister i sin generation. Lucatelli blev født i Brasilien, men bor og arbejder i Danmark og er kendt for sine ekstremt originale, sanselige og politisk ladede performative værker. Hendes værker bliver opført af vokalgrupper som DR Vokalensemblet og Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, og

hun arbejder sammen med nogle af verdens mest fremadskuende ensembler og musikkollektiver. Hendes musik har været opført på en række festivaler som Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, KLANG, Copenhagen Jazz Festival og All Ears Festival for Improvised Music.

Marcela Lucatelli is hailed as one of the most innovative vocalists and composers of her time. Born in Brazil and based in Denmark, Marcela has earned international recognition for her extremely original, sensuous and politically charged performance works. Her works have been premiered at diverse festivals and international events such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, Nordic Music Days, KLANG, Copenhagen Jazz Festival and All Ears Festival for Improvised Music.

MARTIN STAUNING

(DK, 1982) er oprindeligt uddannet og har arbejdet som danser ved Den Kgl. Ballet i København. Han er desuden uddannet fra Solistklassen i komposition fra Det Kgl. Danske Musikkonservatorium. Hans værker kendetegnes ofte ved dualitet: Han udforsker dramatiske og intense udtryk med stor volumen og klarform, og engagerer øjeblikkeligt lytteren, og han formår at vende dette udtryk rundt og gradvist opløse strukturen, så musikken praktisk talt søger i sig selv en stille drømmeverden med smukke lydbilleder. Stauning har bl.a. modtaget Axel Borup Jørgensens komponistpris (2015), Léonie Sonnings talentpris (2016), Carl Prisen som årets komponist (2017 og 2020) og H.C. Lumbye/Agerbyprisen (2018).

Martin Stauning originally trained and worked as a dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen. He also took the advanced post graduate programme in composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. His works are often characterised by duality, exploring dramatic and intense high-volume and clearly structured expression, instantly engaging the listener. He succeeds in inverting this expression, gradually dissolving the structure so that the music practically seeks a peaceful dream world of beautiful soundscapes within itself. Stauning has received the Axel Borup Jørgensen Prize for composition (2015), the Léonie Sonning TalentPrize (2016), the Carl Prize for composer of the year (2017 and 2020) and the H.C. Lumbye/Agerby Award (2018), among others.

MARYANA LYSENKO (RU,

1986) blev født i Moskva. Hun er komponist, performer, video- og lydkunstner og arbejder i feltet mellem elektronisk musik, instrumental musik, video og performance med base i Frankrig. Lysenko studerede komposition på Moscow State Conservatory og med Simon Steen-Andersen på Hochschule der Künste Bern. Hendes arbejde de senere år har været koncentreret om at opdage de musikalske muligheder i forskellige objekter, publikums reaktioner på forskellige typer lyde i omgivelserne ved brugen af video, elektronik, optagede og forskellige typer lyde.

Maryana Lysenko was born in Moscow. She is a composer, performer, video- and sound artist based in France working in the field between electronics, instrumental music, video and performance. Lysenko studied composition in Moscow State Conservatory with Simon Steen-Andersen in Hochschule der Künste Bern. The works from the last several years are mostly concentrated on discovering musical possibilities of different objects, specific reactions of the public to various types of environmental sounds, with using video, electronics, tape and different type of noise.

NEKO3 (DK, 2017) er et samtidsmusikensemble baseret i København. Det består af de to perkussionister Kalle Hakosalo og Lorenzo Colombo og pianisten Fei Nie. NEKO3 placerer sig mellem akustisk og elektronisk musik med formålet at tilbyde et friskt musikalsk udtryk ved at opbygge en fortælling og et koncept for hver koncert – og derved gøre oplevelsen unik for publikum. NEKO3 arbejder løbende med forskellige komponister. Ensemblet har særligt fokus på samspillet mellem billeder, elektriske devices, video og lys og ønsker at integrere musik, visuel kunst, installationskunst og kropsperformance i en konceptuel helhed.

NEKO3 is a Copenhagen-based contemporary music ensemble consisting of the two percussionists Kalle Hakosalo and Lorenzo Colombo, and pianist Fei Nie. Placed between acoustic and electronic music, NEKO3 aims at offering a fresh musical proposal, building a narrative and a concept for each concert and thereby making it a unique experience for the audience. NEKO3 is continuously working with composers to commission and premiere new works. The ensemble focuses on the interplay between images, electronic devices, videos, lights, and seeks to integrate music, visual art, installations, and body performance into one conceptual whole.

PHILIP VENABLES

(UK, 1979) er en britisk komponist, som er blevet beskrevet som ”en fængslende original musikalsk personlighed” af Alex Ross i The New Yorker. Han har skabt værker inden for opera, musikteater, multimediakoncerter og kammermusik med en eklektisk palette af stilarter og temaer såsom socialpolitik, vold, køn og historiefortælling. Venables’ første opera 4.48 Psychosis blev opført i The Royal Opera i London og var første tilladte adaptation af den britiske dramatiker Sarah Kanes værker. Operaen vandt en lang række priser og store roser: ”Råt kraftfuldt og sårende ærligt” (The Telegraph). Hans seneste opera Denis & Katya blev instrueret og dramtiseret af Ted Huffman, som også er samarbejdspartner på Andreas Borregaards værk.

Philip Venables is a british composer who has been described as ”an arrestingly original musical personality” by Alex Ross in The New Yorker. His output covers opera, music theatre, multimedia concert works and chamber music – an eclectic range of styles and influences, and themes such as social politics, violence, gender and storytelling. Philip’s first opera, 4.48 Psychosis, performed in The Royal Opera in London, was the first ever sanctionedadaptation of any of British playwright Sarah Kane’s work. The opera won a range of awards and received overwhelming praise: ”Rawly powerful and laceratingly honest” (The Telegraph). Philip’s most recent opera Denis & Katya was directed and dramatised by Ted Huffman, who he also collaborates with on Andreas Borregaard’s piece.

REMY SIU

(HK, 1990) er komponist og ny medie-kunstner baseret i Vancouver. For øjeblikket er han involveret i skabelsen af automatiserede og variable værkapperater, som aktiverer lys, lyd, software og kroppen. Han samarbejder bl.a. med Hong Kong Exile, Mahaila Patterson-O’Brien, Vicky Chow, Howie Tsui og Theatre Replacement. Remy har studeret ved Simon Fraser University

Remy Siu is a composer and new media artist based in Vancouver. Recently, his work has involved the construction of automated and variable performance apparatuses that employ light, sound, software, and the body. He actively creates with Hong Kong Exile, Mahaila Patterson-O’Brien, Vicky Chow, Howie Tsui, Theatre Replacement, and others. Remy studied at Simon Fraser University Contemporary Arts with David MacIntyre, Owen Underhill, and Barry Truax. He has also studied with Rodney Sharman. In 2021, he founded sunset visitor, an independent video game studio focused on narrative experiences. He is also currently the Co-Artistic Director of Hong Kong Exile.

SCENATET

Scenatet is led by Anna Berit Asp Christensen and works in a field between contemporary music and conceptual art, often with a surprisingly non-instrumental, sensuous and bodily approach to exploring the relation between music, art and people. Within their 13 years of existence, they have placed themselves at the top of the international landscape of contemporary art and music. The biggest Danish pieces, major international performances and premieres are all natural and continuous parts of the ensemble’s work. Bringing a diverse repertoire to experimental venues, renowned festivals and cultural hubs all over the world, Scenatet makes the most interesting experimental music and art widely accessible to the public, locally and internationally.

SØS GUNVER RYBERG

(DK, 1979) er internationalt anerkendt og skaber banebrydende og genreoverskridende elektronisk musik. Hun optræder over hele verden i mange sammenhænge fra festivaler og klubber til museer og site specific locations. Senest er hun blevet inviteret Aphex Twin til at spille. Hun har spillet på et utal af festivaler og venues som fx. Berliner Philharmonie, Berghain, Atonal festival, CTM Festival, Flow Festival, DR koncertsal, Roskilde Festival. Hun har modtaget en række priser og hædersbevisninger som fx en BAFTA-nominering for sit arbejde på det multi-prisbelønnede computerspil INSIDE. Hun er kendt for sine udgivelser, lydinstallationer, ‘audio walks’, kompositioner til film, computerspil, dans, performance-art og teater.

SØS Gunver Ryberg is an award-winning composer, sound artist and live performer known for her releases and her extensive compositional and soundtrack work for video games, films, theatre, dance productions and installations. She has received several international awards for her music and was BAFTA nominated for her work on the multi award winning video game INSIDE.

She has performed worldwide at festivals, museums, galleries, clubs, cinemas, planetariums, churches and unconventional site specific locations.

TED HUFFMAN

(US, 1976) er en dramatiker og instruktør født i New York. Han har studeret humaniora på Yale University og var lærling på San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program. Hans seneste værk Denis & Katya, som han skabte sammen med Philip Venables for Opera Philadelphia, vandt i 2019 Fedora Generali Prize og i 2020 Ivor Novello Award for Stage Work og er nomineret til the International Opera Award og the Opernwelt Jarhrbuch Awards. Kritikere har kaldt operaen ”en intim, hjemsøgende triumf” (New York Times) og ”ekstremt original og dystert kraftfuld” (The Telegraph).

Ted Huffman is a stage writer and director born in New York. Ted studied Humanities at Yale University and apprenticed at San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program. His most recent piece, Denis & Katya, a true-story opera created with Philip Venables for Opera Philadelphia, won the 2019 Fedora Generali Prize and the 2020 Ivor Novello Award for Stage Work and is nominated for the International Opera Award and the Opernwelt Jarhrbuch Awards. Critics have called it ”an intimate, haunting triumph” (New York Times) and ”bracingly original and bleakly powerful” (The Telegraph).

THE NORWEGIAN

OPRA (NO, 2009) er et projekt med det formål at udforske mulighederne for radikalt og uventet at udfordre forståelsen af opera som kunstart ved at tilgå opera som et eksperimentelt felt. Komponist og researcher Trond Reinholdtsen er den diktatoriske operainstruktør, komponist, hovedperformer og producent, men inviterer også kunstnere ind til at samarbejde i forskellige formater. ”Opraerne” er meget forskellige i format og strækker sig fra store sceniske produktioner til konceptuelle sketches, optagede usynlige opera og musikopførsler.

The main aim for the project The Norwegian Opra is to investigate possibilities for radical and unexpected ways of understanding opera as art genre by approaching the whole apparatus of opera as an experimental field. The composer and researcher Trond Reinholdtsen is the dictatorial opera director, composer, main performer and producer, but also invites artists to take part in different forms of collaborations unique for each production. The opras are very different in format, from large scenical productions, to conceptual sketches, recorded invisible operas and musical performances.

TROND REINHOLDTSEN

(NO, 1972) er en moderne komponst og vokalist. Han er uddannet ved the Norwegian Academy of Music med diplom i komposition. Han er desuden sanger i ensemblet Nordic Voices og aktiv kulturkritiker og kommentator. Siden sin debut har Reinholdtsens musik udviklet sig i en mere performativ retning, hvor traditionelle musikalske passager tilføres performancebaserede udtryksformer herunder essayistiske fortolkninger og live-videofilm. Et signaturtræk ved hans værker er ”komponistens tale til publikum” til sidst; en tale som kan fremstå live optrådt, i optaget format eller performet via instrumenter.

Trond Reinholdtsen is a Norwegian contemporary composer and vocalist. He graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music where he subsequently completed his diploma degree in composition. Han er pt. ved at tage en master i komposition ved Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i København med Jeppe Just Christensen og Niels Rosing-Schow. Bonfill har skrevet elektronisk musik, kammermusik, interaktive multimedia-værker samt opera og musik til teater, film og reklame. Hans værker drejer sig ofte om tidens elasticitet. I 2014 vandt han Berliner Opernpreis som medlem af ”SpinOff Collective”, og han har modtaget støtte fra OSIC (Government of Catalonia), Fundació Phonos (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona) og Dansk Komponistforening.

Xavier Bonfill is a composer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is currently studying his Masters in Composition at The Royal Danish Academy of Music (DKDM) in Copenhagen with Jeppe Just Christensen and Niels Rosing-Schow. He has written electronic music, chamber music, interactive multimedia pieces, as well as opera, music for theatre, film and advertising. His pieces deal with the elasticity of time. He won the Berliner Opernpreis in 2014 as a member of the ”SpinOff Collective” and he has received support from OSIC (Government of Catalonia), Fundació Phonos (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona) and Dansk Komponistforening.
