LILJEGROTTEN LYDVÆRK AF KIM RICHARD ADLER MEJDAHL

Liljegrotten er det nye lydværk og musikalbum af Kim Kim, som danske billedkunstner og musiker Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl står bag. Værkets sange, der er lavet ud fra optagelser fra næsten tusind anonyme udstillingsgæster fra Mejdahls soloudstilling af samme titel i København, udgør tilsammen Danmarks største fællesskabte lydværk.

Liljegrotten tager publikum gennem en skæbnesvanger og mytisk rejse gennem en grotte, fra indgangen til endevæggen. I sine mørke grottesalmer undersøger Mejdahl, om mennesket, set i lyset af klimaforandringerne, er ved at begynde at se naturen som et monster frem for en materiel resource. Liljegrotten er Mejdahls bud på, hvordan klimakrisen lyder som musik: en heavy metal-kirkekoncert opført af hekse.

Liljegrotten is the new sound piece and music album by Kim Kim, which Danish visual artist and musician Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl has created. The songs, which are made of recordings from almost a thousand anonymous exhibition guests at Mejdahl’s solo exhibition by the same name in Copenhagen, together constitute Denmark’s largest joint sound piece.

Liljegrotten takes the audience through a fateful and mythical journey through a cave, from the entrance to the end wall. In his dark cave hymns, Mejdahl examines whether man, in the light of climate change, is beginning to see nature as a monster rather than a material resource. Liljegrotten is Mejdahl’s example on how the climate crisis sounds like through music: a heavy metal church concert performed by witches.
