Surrogacy af Saša Spacal er en lydskulptur om frøene fra planten Vanila planifolias, der visualiserer spiringen. Den mexicanske plante er kilde til den duftende vaniljearoma. Den tilhører orkidéfamilien, der har brug for naturlige symbioser for at trives og gro. Med kloning og manuel bestøvning ødelægger fødevareindustrien den indbyrdes afhængighed planter har til hinanden. Med Surrogacy skaber Spacal et sanseligt symbiosestudie, der får os helt tæt på det fatale møde mellem spiring og produktion.

Surrogacy by Saša Spacal is a sound sculpture that focusses on the seeds of the plant Vanila planifolias and visualises germination. The Mexican plant is the source of the fragrant vanilla aroma. It belongs to the orchid family that needs natural symbiosis to thrive and grow. With cloning and manual pollination, the food industry destroys the interdependence that exists between plants. With Surrogacy, Spacal creates a sensuous symbiosis study that brings us close to the fatal encounter between germination and production.
