SOUND ART IN PUBLIC SPACES: GLASS AND AIR AF DAWN SCARFE

Glass and Air by Dawn Scarfe is an installation that lets us listen to each other through recordings from everyday life in the city. Right now, just around us - getting really close. Intense and present, because we listen through “listening glasses” and not through ordinary speakers. Combined with a pre-recorded sound based on Luciers’ Music for Cello with One or More Amplified Vases from 1993, a soundtrack sweeps across the cello’s strings and searches for resonances in glass jars with small microphones placed inside.
