Custom Boatbuilder BoatSmith Opens New Facility in West Palm Beach, Builds New 47-foot Wharram Catamaran BoatSmith has moved to a new 22,000 square-foot facility in West Palm Beach, FL, from its previous location in Jupiter, FL. The new and larger facility is to accommodate the company’s growing boatbuilding, marine carpentry, and millwork operations. Its new shop significantly increases their production capacity and range, and it now employ a team of 28 carpenters and technicians for very high-end projects on and off site. It also recently completed an array of molds for two performance cruising catamarans: a Wharram Ariki 47 and the Eclipse 32. These molds enable BoatSmith to build the Ariki and the Eclipse in an efficient and cost-effective manner and still customize them to suit individual cruising preferences. BoatSmith is hoping to display the Ariki 47 at the Miami Strictly Sail Boat Show, Feb. 14-18, if the boat has reached a sufficient stage of completion by the time the show opens. Okeechobee Water Level Essentially the Same Since December As of press date in early January, Lake Okeechobee is at 15.00 feet above sea level, decreasing a negligible amount since December. This makes the navigational depth for Route 1, which crosses the lake, 8.94 feet, and the navigational depth for Route 2, which goes around the southern coast of the lake, 7.14 feet. Bridge clearance at Myakka was at 49.06 feet.
