CELEBRATE ST. MARK’S

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

April 17, 2021

April 17, 2021 Good evening! Thank you for joining us for Celebrate St. Mark’s 2021 – The Great Outdoors! Tonight is indeed special. As we gather together virtually from our homes and celebrate with friends and family, we recognize the St. Mark’s Wilderness Program which has been helping boys grow into good men for five decades. This year’s Parents’ Association President, Katherine Steinbrueck, along with our Celebrate St. Mark’s Chairs Jennifer Applbaum, Elizabeth Perry-Miller, and Briana Frenkel, have provided exceptional leadership, determination, flexibility, and creativity in planning this important event during a pandemic with a great deal of uncertainty. With a dedicated team of volunteers and true Lion spirit, they have worked hard to make this a night to remember. And, while we can’t all be together in person tonight, it is gratifying to see our community continuing to exhibit such care and support for our boys, our teachers, and our School. My colleagues and I are deeply grateful to you and to the Parents’ Association for dedicating the proceeds from this evening’s event toward the Frank Jordan Wilderness Endowment, ongoing tornado recovery, and the St. Mark’s Fund. As you know, the events of the past eighteen months have placed unprecedented pressure on the School’s human and financial resources, as it has on many families, businesses, and organizations throughout our community and our city. In the midst of multiple seismic challenges, our community has remained steadfast and never wavered. I am so grateful for the support that you have shown for one another and for the School. One of St. Mark’s great strengths is that it is a mission-driven school. We strive each day to help boys grow into character-driven men who will live meaningful lives and make a positive difference. The strength, determination, resilience, and optimism that our boys, teachers, and families continue to demonstrate each day in the face of adversity are remarkable. I hope you enjoy this very special evening and want you to know how much your continued support means! Here’s wishing you, your family, and our whole school community all the best as we make our way down the homestretch of a year that we will never forget! Go Lions! St. Mark’s Strong! With sincere gratitude,

David W. Dini Eugene McDermott Headmaster

April 17, 2021

St. Mark’s School of Texas will always be home to our boys and families. When our sons are not learning at 10600 Preston Road, they are broadening their education in the great outdoors. In 1971, St. Mark’s extended the Marksman classroom into the wild, and, today, boys continue to explore the outdoors across the United States. This year’s Celebrate St. Mark’s theme is a tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the St. Mark’s Wilderness Program. It is such an honor to chair this milestone event. From the beginning, we were thrilled at the idea of gathering our St. Mark’s family together and celebrating the adventures into the wild. Even though we are camping “solo” tonight, we are all still together under the same bright stars. It is a unique night to lionize our remarkable School, our boys, and traditions of the past five decades in the outdoors. No matter where your son is along the path to manhood, the wilderness program provides a unique opportunity to experience growth and leadership skills that help him navigate through life. We are so grateful for each committee member, sponsor, and donor who graciously hit the trail to make tonight happen. Your adaptability and enthusiasm made all of this possible. And to each of you watching the virtual event: we hope you delight in this evening with your whole family. Enjoy the trail of greetings and memories, sounds from Emerald City band, tidings from David Dini, a live auction, and more!

Sincerely, Jennifer Applbaum, Briana Frenkel, and Elizabeth Perry-Miller Celebrate Co-Chairs 2021

FAQs and How It Works Bidding in the Online Auction, including Teacher Gifts of Time Register at https://smtexas.muradbid.com and create a profile. After you have a credit card on file, you may bid from your mobile phone or computer. We recommend placing bids from your phone while you watch the virtual event on your TV or computer screen. There will be an option to set your max bid price per item. The last bid on an item when the Online Auction closes will be declared the winner.

Bidding in the Live Auction Live Auction bidding works the same as in-person bidding. The auctioneer will give details of the live auction package and then begin accepting bids. Bids are made from your bidding central homepage in real time as the auctioneer calls out the item, so don’t be late! We recommend placing bids from your phone or computer screen while you watch the virtual event on a different screen. When the live auction begins, a highlighted BID NOW button will be seen. Group purchases for live auction packages are encouraged and welcome; however, one person must be responsible for the bidding. In the event of any dispute, the auctioneer will have sole discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and re-sell the item in dispute. When a bidder is acknowledged by the auctioneer as the winner, the winning bidder thereby agrees to accept and pay for the item at the stated bid. In addition, the winning bidder assumes full risk and responsibility for the item.
