KinderPrep

Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions, and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination and motor skills, while gaining independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play, arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Requirements for parents participation will vary by center. Children must be able to use the rest room unassisted. All children must have valid immunization records on file before the start of class. No child under the age of 4 years can be enrolled for over 12 hours of San Jose recreations per week.

Group Arts

This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities Come check out the Bascom Community Center and relax with some arts and crafts. This program is designed to improve fine motor skills, creativity and social skills. You will be guided through art projects and specialty crafts.

Organization's staff must accompany clients in a 4 to 1 ratio This class is not designed for individuals without staff/attendant

Simply Cooking

This introductory course for individuals with disabilities (ages 16+) and it covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Participants will receive instructional materials to take home. Class is conducted in a teaching kitchen which utilizes gas burners

Participants must be able to function in a 1:4 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care.

Beginner Wheelchair Basketball

Nothin' but net! Come out and shoot some hoops with your friends while you learn the exciting sport of wheelchair basketball. You will learn new techniques, skills, and practice drills. All ability levels welcome. No sports chair, no problem; we have extra sports chairs available to use during program Tournament opportunities are available for big gamers Don't miss out! Participants must be able to function in a 1:10 staff to participant ratio, and independent with personal care needs.

Power Soccer

Do you use a power wheelchair? Join one of the three classes with the San Jose teams in the electrifying and growing sport of power soccer! Whether you just want to learn the sport or aspire to compete in future tournaments, this is the program for you Participants will learn power soccer techniques, develop skills, practice drills, and prepare for competition

Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care.

This class is designed for power wheelchair users

Advanced Wheelchair Basketball

This is a Wheelchair Basketball practice for advanced players who are competing at a high level. Don't miss out! Participants must be able to function in a 1:10 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care

Tai Chi

This graceful exercise uses slow circular movements and deep breathing. Tai Chi is a great option for helping the body improve strength and balance while relieving stress

Chair Exercise

Get Fit! for a low impact exercise, this is the perfect class for you. This class is designed to target both strength building and balance while being gentle on your joints

This chair exercise may be low in impact but not in fun!

Zumba Gold

"Ditch the work out-Join the party!" Dance, socialize, and burn lots of calories with this fun modified Zumba option Zumba Gold recreates all the same Zumba moves you know and love with lower intensity and lower impact while still focusing on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Don't forget to bring water, and have fun!

Line Dance

If your a Beginner with two left feet, an Intermediate dancer with basic knowledge, or and Advanced dancer who knows complex stepsthere is a level for you!

First time dancers are required to start at the beginner level and work their way up. Partners are not required and no prior experience necessary.

Dance shoes work best and be sure to bring a water bottle!
