Teens will have a safe place to learn and recreate at PRNS facilities and have access to GYM , fitness Room, field trips, sports leagues, special events, and family engagements. Please enroll at BASCOM teen center. Scholarships are available to cover $10 cost. PARENTS : Please complete an emergency form and required documentation.


This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills, and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors, pre-phonics, literacy building (i.e. identifying letter sounds, writing the alphabet and simple words), number recognition, and counting up to 30. The goal is to have fun, participate, and learn. Children must be able to use the restroom unassisted, Children also must be able to wear a face mask for the duration of each class. All children must have valid immunization records on file before the start of class. Requirements for parent participation will vary by center.

WINTER CLASSES

THERAPEUTICS SIMPLY COOKING This introductory course for individuals with disabilities (ages 16+) and it covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Participants will receive instructional materials to take home. Class is conducted in a teaching kitchen which utilizes gas burners.

GROUP ARTS This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities. Come check out the Bascom Community Center and relax with some arts and crafts. This program is designed to improve fine motor skills, creativity and social skills. You will be guided through art projects and specialty crafts. Organization’s staff must accompany clients in a 4 to 1 ratio. This class is not designed for individuals without staff/ attendant. Location: Bascom Community Center - Community Room (Upstairs)

BEGINNER WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL

Nothin’ but net! Come out and shoot some hoops with your friends while you learn the exciting sport of wheelchair basketball. You will learn new techniques, skills, and practice drills. All ability levels welcome. No sport chair, no problem; we have extra sports chairs available to use during program. Tournament opportunities are available for big gamers. Don’t miss out! Participants must be able to function in a 1:10 staff to participate ratio, and independent with personal care needs. All ability levels welcome and we have extra chairs. This class is designed for manual wheelchair users. This class is on Wednesdays for 5 weeks.

POWER SOCCER Do you use a power soccer wheelchair? Join one of the three classes with the San Jose teams in the electrifying and growing sport of power soccer! Whether you just want to learn the sport or aspire to compete in future tournaments, this is the program for you. Participants will learn power soccer techniques, develop skills, practice drills, and prepare for competition. Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs to provide an attendant for personal care. This class is designed for power wheelchair users.
