Cheer! (CLAP ARTS)

Guitar– Beginner

Join us for a fun and spirited time! Learn the basics of cheers, dance, chants and stunts for cheerleaders. Proper technique and safety help campers build stamina, flexibility, and strength. A Pep Rally for families and friends will be held on the last day of class! Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothing and sneakers or tennis shoes.

Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen all started here, at the beginning. In Guitar Beginner, the primary focus is learning the basics of guitar. Material covered will include, reading chord diagrams, chord charts, and playing scales and melodies. Come aspire to greatness with us!

Tap/Ballet (CLAP ARTS) This tap/ballet class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs, and elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Wear dance attire and bring tap and ballet shoes. Parents may stay for first 10 min of first class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration. Scholarships are Available! The City of San José offers activity scholarships for children, seniors and adults with disabilities who qualify. Scholarships will cover 50-75% of the class cost. Sports Skyhawks Basketball (SKYHAWKS) This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progressive curriculum, we focus on the whole player - teaching respect, teamwork, and responsibility. Over the course of this six-session program, boys and girls will learn passing, shooting, dribbling, rebounding and defense. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear appropriate clothing and rubber soled shoes.

Karate (Kenpo) Level 1 (DRAGON CLOUD KARATE) Learn a beginning form of martial arts that promotes respect, self esteem, leadership and self-confidence. Karate (Kenpo) Level 2/3 (DRAGON CLOUD KARATE) This is a continuation of the Level 1 class. Students will learn an intermediate form of martial arts which promotes respect, self esteem, leadership and self-confidence. SAN JOSE RECREATION PRESCHOOL Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class:        

Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ratio is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Little Learners only)

Children will be introduced to socialization, positive selfesteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play and arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. All Access-Therapeutics Fun For All This class focuses on fun with music, games, arts and crafts, movement activities and a field trip. This play program is designed for children with developmental disabilities including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Children should bring a sack lunch to class each week. Brief overview All Access Sports and Recreation (AASR) provides a wide range of programs for individuals of all ages with all ability levels, including those with ambulatory and cognitive disabilities Inclusion services are available for people with disabilities wishing to participate in recreation, preschool and after-school programs in the City of San José. We welcome people of all abilities to participate in our programs! Urban Explorers Get out and explore! This is a Saturday walking club directed towards teens and young adults with disabilities. Each week, we will meet at the Roosevelt Community Center and travel using public transportation to different trails, museums, festivals and parks in the area. San Jose has a lot to offer its urban dwelling explorers. We'll learn about our unique community settings while meeting new friends and getting a little exercise. “UG” (Underserved & Gifted) – Digital Arts Program Film Camp

Brief overview The “UG” Digital Arts Program provides hands onopportunities for middle school and high school aged youth, to explore their creativity and self expression. Youth engage in activities such as song-writing, beat production, music recording and editing, playing instruments, audio engineering, art, photography, filming and more.

Do you love to watch movies, and music videos? Well this camp is for you! Participants in this camp will be exposed to several aspects of professional film and photography through hands on learning. Explore recording, editing and exporting videos, as well as the creative pre-production process of creating story boards! SUMMER CAMPS Camp San Jose At Camp San Jose your child gets an unforgettable, traditional summer camp experience for under $4 an hour! Your child will be playing crazy games, sports, creating cool arts & crafts projects, singing funny songs and embarking on a weekly, entertaining field trip. SUMMER CAMPS Spy Academy (MAD SCIENCE)

Digital Computer Animation (FRESHI)

Look out 007– the Mad Science Spy Academy is here! From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, camper have the opportunity to check out spy tech equipment and take home lots of gadgets like a UV Fingerprint Finder! Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis! Figure out the science of forensics and reveal who is behind those crazy capers! Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on view of the science that spies use.

Students are introduced to fundamental digital computer animation. In this class, participants will gain skills that help them learn computer drawing, character movement, frame layering and dialogue matching. Students will work in small groups on animation technique and will complete a short animated film. Students may bring Flash Drives to the last class and will be able to take a copy of their animation home to share with friends and family.

Spend your Summer at California's largest Skate Park! Summer camp at LCRSP is designed for BMX riders, skateboarders and scooter riders of all ages and abilities. Participants are able to focus on improving their personal abilities in the areas of speed, consistency, and tricks. Participants may enter themselves into one of three categories: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. The instructor will teach and demonstrate tricks that participants can use to help them progress to the next level. The lessons and instructions taught can be practiced at the participant's own pace and ability, even after the lessons are completed.
