HIRLN: Kelley Park Art 'n Hike

HIRLN (Head Injury Recreation and Leisure Network) invites you to join us for a hike and art craft at Kelley Park! Join us for a guided tour by a city park ranger to show participants around Kelley Park by talking about the history, animals, plants, and more. We will also partake in a fun craft after the hike. Participants are recommended to wear comfortable walking attire and footwear along with a bottle of water.

HIRLN: Egyptian Museum Self-Tour

HIRLN welcomes you to walk like an Egyptian into taking a self-tour of San José's Rosicrucian Museum. This museum houses a large collection of artifacts from Egyptian times and we're going to see it all. We will be doing a self-guided audio tour, optional if participants would like download the museum's application to learn about the artifacts as we walk through, they may do so through museum's website. Specialist will also provide audio tour as another option.

(AASR) Sport-Mania!

Ready for a night of sports inside a roller rink? Join us to partake in many sports such as Hockey, Volleyball, Hungry Hippo, Boom Ball, and more. Participants will also have a chance to practice some of the sports drills before playing the games. There will also be snacks provided as well. Participants are recommended to wear comfortable sport attire and bring bottle of water.

Join us for saying goodbye to summer! We bide summer goodbye with our annual BBQ. We will be serving hamburgers with chips and ice cream. Participants will have a helping hand in prepping the food and making a side dish. Outdoor games will be provided. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio and be able to attend to their own personal care needs or have an attendant present.

Mayfair Group Arts

Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for some arts and crafts fun! Throughout the program participants will improve fine motor skills, increase social skills, and learn to expand their creativity. Each class will be guided by a City Staff. This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities.

Therapeutic Summer Camp

Diabetes Camp Type 1

This collaborative day camp program is provided by the City of San José's Therapeutic Services and California Diabetes Association. There will be fun activities, outings, games, crafts, and diabetes education. Parental/guardian education meetings available as needed. Nursing staff will be on site to help monitor blood sugars and provide education to participants and families.

Let's go on a field trip without having to leave your home! Joins us on Zoom to learn about a new location for each class. We will see historical landmarks, popular tourist activities, learn about the culture, and much more. There will also be a couple of points of fun facts, questions, and sensory incorporated into each class. Zoom link will be sent out prior to each class.

(Virtual) Music Mondays

Love to listen to music? Join us on Zoom where each night will feature a different music genre or theme. We can listen, sing, dance, and chat all about music or more. Participants will be able to requests songs via email or chat. This program is designed for persons with disabilities but, anyone may join.

(Virtual) Let's Get Moving

Got the notion to get yourself into motion? Join us on Zoom to partake in an online exercise class with each class time being different. We will work on upper and lower body, balance, flexibility, and more all while encouraging participants. Participants may be asked to gather household items to be used as "equipment" depending on workout. It's recommended that participants wear comfortable workout attire and have water nearby.

The San José Recreation Preschool program offers children, 3 to 5 year olds, and their families educational and recreational experiences that support their imaginative, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development Children prepare for kindergarten success in a safe and welcoming environment. KINDERPREP

This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills, and fun Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors, pre-phonics, literacy building (i e identifying letter sounds, writing the alphabet and simple words), number recognition, and counting up to 30 The goal is to have fun, participate, and learn Children must be able to use the restroom unassisted All children must have valid immunization records on file before the start of class Requirements for parent participation will vary by center

LITTLE LEARNERS

Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions, and simple learning concepts. THE HATCHERY

This program is an opportunity to introduce preschoolers to farm life and animals at Emma Prusch Farm Park Activities will include caring for our farm animals, songs, stories, crafts, garden fun, and games to develop socialization skills, eye-hand coordination, and motor skills. R.O.C.K. Afterschool is available Monday-Friday on school campuses from the time school is dismissed until 6 p.m., except school holidays, breaks, and inservice days.

Payment Options

R.O.C.K. Afterschool payment options include a one-time payment in full or quarterly or monthly auto pay. A Punch Pass for 10 site visits to R.O.C.K. will also be available for students. Scholarships are available for those who qualify; awarded as funding is available. Please contact your local community center for information about scholarship opportunities.

R.O.C.K. Afterschool is a license-exempt program.
