HARRIET TORY TRUST MASTERCLASS AND CONCERT

Gransden Hall | The Merritt Centre

Masterclass 2.00 – 5.00pm | Concert 7.00pm

The Julian Joseph Trio

Julian Joseph has made ground-breaking advances for jazz in the UK. He was the first Black British jazz musician to host a series at London’s Wigmore Hall, and the first to headline a late-night concert at the BBC Proms with his All Star Big Band. We welcome the Julian Joseph Trio to Sherborne Girls for this year ’ s Harriet Tory Trust Masterclass and Concert.

Performers

Julian Joseph piano

Mark Mondesir drums

Mark Hodgson acoustic bass

“The most significant jazz musician this country has produced for many years, perhaps ever ” .

The Harriet Tory Masterclass Trust was established in 2008 in memory of Harriet Tory (Aylmar ’86), who was tragically killed in an accident in 2005. A memorial fund was set up in her name, which has been used to support the establishment of an annual masterclass and concert at school. Given Harriet’s life-long love of music and the personal support she gave to many friends to help them pursue their musical passions, we believe this is a fitting tribute to her very full and selfless life.
