We know that many have suffered and that the struggles will continue on campus, in our communities, across the nation, and around the world. In an effort to learn, grow, and heal in the wake of the summer’s events, we will share our experiences and light candles in memory of those who have lost their lives. As we begin a new academic year, we will stand strong in our commitment to social justice and respect for all people.

Join in on an open discussion where students can ask questions of Psychology club members and psychology professors. this forum will contain information about the three psychology tracks, Psychology club events, and any other questions related to the psychology major or minor.

2:30-4 PM – Connect 4 Tournament – ASC Theater Reception Area take a quick trip down memory lane by participating in our connect 4 tournament! the tournament will make room for friendly connections and friendly competition. one lucky winner will leave with an awesome prize!

3-5 PM – Ask a Dietician – SCSU Fitness Center Drop by the Fitness center with your food and nutrition questions. a dietician will be there to answer any questions you have, provide guidance and tips, and help you make healthy choices about what to eat.

3:30-4:30 PM – Sophomore Start Up! – BU 309 it is time to rev up your engines for the next leg of your journey! whether you are a very involved student leader or are looking to find your entrance ramp to success city, the team at the southern success center will help you set your gPs. in this program, we will assist students beginning their second year at southern in mapping out how they will accomplish their goals academically and in their personal and professional lives as students. Refreshments will be provided. Have fun and win prizes! (it is recommended but not required that students attend the student involvement Fair prior to attending.)

weDnesDay, august 31 6-7 PM – Windows and Mirrors – ASC 217 using photographs of people from a variety of cultures, this activity raises questions about the universality of human rights, diversity, and human dignity. sponsored by the sociology club.

6-7 PM – Sunset Yoga – BU Patio start the semester in peace by connecting breathing, nature, music, and flowing movement. enjoy the outdoors as the sun goes down and set the tone for the rest of the year with an intro to yoga class. no experience necessary; bring your own mat or towel. Rain location is the scsu Fitness center.

6-7:30 PM – Arts and Crafts with the Sisters of SGRho – ASC 305 come out for an entertaining evening of arts and crafts with the sisters of sigma gamma Rho sorority, inc. it will be a night of fun and creativity, and refreshments will be served. we hope to see you there!

Ronald D. Herron Day of Service Saturday, September 17 the Ronald D. Herron Day of service is an annual event designated for southern students, faculty and staff to gather in the local community and work side by side on service projects, benefiting new Haven neighborhoods and the greater new Haven community. this event fosters friendship, promotes service, and leaves a positive imprint on our community.

Alumni Professionals Day Wednesday, September 21, 1-4 PM southern students have the opportunity to sit down with alumni who work in a wide variety of professions. in this relaxed atmosphere, students are able to ask alumni questions about their work and enjoy light refreshments.
