BIBLIOGRAPHIE COLONIALE

Norwegian expeditions (Roald Amundsen 1911-12, and Hj. Riiser-Larsen with the ÂŤ Norvegia Âť 1929-30 and 1931). Norway does not claim the sovereignty of these territories, but regards the discoveries and annexations that have taken place as a valid base for claims of priority, if the sovereignty question should be actualized in the future (Aagaard 1930, vol. 2, p. 902). POLAR REGIONS IN GENERAL.

A general review of the questions of sovereignty of polar regions, particularly as far as Norway's interests are concerned, has been given by Hoel (1928). The conditions for the validity of occupations and annexations as a base for claims of sovereignty of polar regions have been studied by Smedal (1930) from the point of view of international law. THE HISTORY OF OTHER NATIONS' COLONIES.

The Norwegian contributions to the history of other nations, colonies are few and scattered. The first years of this seculum gave birth to a great many papers dealing with the Boer Wars, but only very few are of any historical interest (Buch 1901, Schultz 1902, Hammer 1902, further Schroder-Nielsen 1925). A great part of Anton Mohr's production deals with colonial matters, particularly the problems of the Near East. The history of North America during the colonial period and the economic causes of the victorious American revolution have been studied by Koht (1910, 1920).
