W elcom e Hello, my name Is Judith A. Habert, I am the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of San Diego Woman Magazine. I have held this position since the origin of our publication in 2006. Although the past 7 years have provided a wealth of information, and learned knowledge, about running a magazine and working with writers, there is so much more I have learned throughout my 38 year writing career. I have written several books, ghostwritten or co-authored a dozen or so more and penned thousands of articles throughout my career. In addition to my writing career, I have been actively teaching writing throughout San Diego for the past 12 years. Many amateur writers have taken my classes over the years and they too have become published authors, magazine writers, bloggers, and writing professionals. It is the lessons I have learned, the tricks of the trade, and the unknown shortcuts to becoming a professional writer, which I love to share with my students. This along with humor, which I try to infuse into every part of the learning process, have kept many of my students coming back year after year, sometimes taking the exact same courses just to keep their writing fresh and on track. I am so excited to present my newest endeavor, The Judith Habert Academy of Writing. Working under my own direction, and including some of the wonderful professionals in the field that I have had the pleasure to work with over the past 38 years, insures that any student of my academy will be better prepared for the real life business of being a writer than those learning the trade in high tuition college writing programs. Those involved in teaching our students have been in the field, making their living as writers and have learned much more being in the trenches, than they could have ever learned in a classroom environment. One of the elements of my school which has me extremely excited is our “Magazine Apprentice Program.”After completion of our six week certification program a final project will be required. The projects will be entered into our competition and the winner will be chosen by our Magazine’ s Editorial Board. The winner will earn a spot on our magazine as a columnist for a full year. A great way to earn experience as a professional writer! Those involved in teaching our students have been in the field, making their living as writers and have learned much more being in the trenches, than they could have ever learned in a classroom environment. Best of all, we all want to share it with the many promising students who are full of talent, but have not been able to move their writing to the next plateau. Come along on this journey and reach your dream of becoming a professional writer… .and have a lots of fun along the way. Best Regards,

Judith A. Habert Judith A. Habert Publisher/Editor-in-Chief
