Inscription on back in a brownish-black glaze: ‘Recitation by Bastet, Mistress of Bubastis: Eye of Re, Lord of all the gods’. An extremely fine example of what is probably a New Year’s gift. Ptolemaic Period, 305-30 BC. H. 5 3/4 in.
