DAY 1 – Arrival in Budapest

Fly to Budapest and transfer to your cruise ship. We are moored overnight so you may fancy a wander ashore to start exploring. (D)

DAY 2 – Budapest

Budapest is always atmospheric and fascinating but at this time of the year, it is particularly captivating. This morning we enjoy a guided tour including the iconic Parliament Building and ancient Castle District. There will also be free time to wander the atmospheric Yuletide markets. This afternoon we navigate the Danube Bend on our journey towards Bratislava. (B,L,D) + Included Experience – Guided tour of Budapest and visit to the Christmas markets

DAY 3 – Bratislava

The Slovakian capital of Bratislava has recently rekindled its past in the restored old town, and the impressive 17th century castle commands expansive views across the Danube. This morning we will discover the main sights and visit churches to view their traditional Christmas cribs. You are then free to wander the maze of streets, admiring the Christmas decorations until you reach the main square and the market with its cosy atmosphere. You may choose to join our optional

excursion to Slovensky Grob, a typical village situated in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. This evening we cruise towards Vienna. (B,L,D) + Included Experience – Guided tour of Bratislava and visit to the Christmas markets

DAY 4 – Vienna

There are few places that can so delightfully evoke the spirit of Christmas than Vienna. This morning we enjoy a guided tour taking in the main sights, including St Stephens Cathedral and the impressive Hofburg complex. There has been a Christmas market in Vienna since the Middle Ages and today there are more than 20 markets held over the festive period. Vienna’s City Hall provides a splendid backdrop for one of the most popular, its windows a giant advent calendar, reflecting the myriad of lights glistening in the trees below. After lunch there’s plenty of time to explore more of the markets. This evening we sail towards Budapest. (B,L,D) + Included Experience – Guided tour of Vienna and visit to the Christmas markets

DAY 5 – Budapest

We cruise through the Hungarian landscape on our return journey to Budapest. This afternoon you are

at leisure so perhaps wander to the Vorosmarty Square in the very heart of Pest, where the rustic wooden stalls groan under the weight of their treasure troves of Christmas gifts and the scent of traditional honey cookies and mulled wine pervades the air. DAY 6 – Return home
