Making the most out of wet weather weddings
They say that rain on your wedding day can bring good luck, but this sometimes can be the last thing on a couple’s minds if their day has been planned around dry weather and clear skies. The important thing to remember is that regardless of the weather, at the end of the day you will still be married to the one you love and so you should just enjoy the day for what it is... whatever that may be. It does make good sense to have some wet-weather options in place for the key parts of your day such as the ceremony and reception, but for the rest of your special day, a good photographer should be able to capture beautiful moments no matter what the weather is doing. Cloudy skies can add a great dramatic element to your images and
an overcast day actually produces beautiful lighting for photography. It is like having a giant studio softbox in the sky that creates gorgeous soft lighting, rather than heavy, harshshadows that full sun can sometimes produce. If there is a fair chance of rain, bring along some props and just have fun with it. Gumboots come in all sorts of colours and designs these days and umbrellas can be as casual or as stylish as you choose. Select props that suit your personality and just enjoy the ride. You can have every element of your day planned down to the nest detail but unfortunately you can’t control the weather. So focus on what the day means for the pair of you and not on what the weather is doing. Let your photographer focus on that!

An Engaging Afternoon
We like to include a complimentary engagement session with each of our album packages for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it gives us another excuse to get out in this beautiful part of the country and make gorgeous portraits of fun couples. Secondly, and more importantly, it gives us all a chance to get to know one another. Yo u h a ve a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o experience what it is like in front of the lens and we get to understand what type of portraits are important to you. These are all things that are best not left until your wedding day. During your session, you will also get to know your photographer on a more personal level which can be just as important as the quality of the images they produce. Remember, your photographer is generally the only wedding supplier who will be with you for the entire day. From the hair and make-up preparations, right through to your wedding reception, you and your photographer will be spending a lot of time together, so you want to make sure they are the type of person you want along for the ride. Leading up to your wedding, you may also nd that it is very handy to have current, professional portraits of the two of you as a couple. These images can be used on ‘save-the-
d a t e ’ c a rd s o r yo u r we d d i n g invitations. Some people like to have a large portrait at the entrance to their reception, or for the ultimate keepsake, this year, we have introduced custom Guest Books. Our Guest Books include images from your engagement session and also enough white space for your guests to leave their own heartfelt messages on your special day. Find out more about our guest books on page 16. So, when planning what you would like from your photographer, don’t forget about our complimentary engagement sessions and try to book as early as you can. The earlier we shoot your engagement session, the longer you’ll have to plan just what you’d like to use your images for.

Beautiful Byron & Surrounds
There is simply no denying that B y ro n B ay a n d h e r b e a u t i f u l surrounding communities hold some of the most stunning and picturesque locations in all of Australia. From the golden sands of the surf beaches to the evergreen foliage of the hinterland, the Northern Rivers district certainly has no shortage of natural backdrops for your wedding. When thinking of the type of wedding portraits you would like, try matching location with your personality. If you are a couple who love the beach, then the coastline from Kingscliff to Ballina is simply one of the best stretches of beach on the planet. If you are more of a country couple, then the Byron hinterland region, and even further a eld, has a multitude of rustic dairy sheds on rolling hills, or private little streams nestled next to enormous g trees that all make for amazing photo
oppor tunities. If a more urban approach is what you are after, then the region also has many modern buildings or interesting back alleys that can add a great deal of variety to your wedding album. Many couples nd choosing one style of location dif cult which is one of the reasons the Northern Rivers region is a great backdrop for your wedding... everything is just so close. You can be in a very country setting one moment and then just ten minutes later, be kicking up sand on our gorgeous beaches. Whatever you choose, speak with your photographer before you lock in times for your ceremony and reception. Your photographer will know how long you need at each location and how long it takes to travel between spots. You’ll want to ensure you have enough time to capture images you’ll want to pass down to your kids, but you also don’t want to keep your guests waiting too long for their dinner.

Something a Little E ra
All of our packages include a custom designed album, made from the nest museum quality art papers and printed using archival inks that will last for generations. But that is not all we do! We also produce wall prints on quality art papers or canvases, thank-you cards and invitations, and our most exciting new addition... custom Guest Books. Our Guest Books are printed on the same quality papers that our albums are printed on, using the same worldclass inks. They feature many of the images from your engagement session and are designed to allow ample room on each spread for your guests to write their own messages to you on your wedding day. We love this product so much, that we wish there was some way to offer it to
our past brides. The book is 10x10" in size, contains 18 custom-designed pages and is bound in your choice of forty beautiful fabrics. It features a photo strip on the front cover and is the perfect accompaniment to your wedding album. Some of our packages include a Guest Book, however if you are considering one of the other packages, please take a moment to consider the Guest Book as an addition. If you would like something out of the ordinary created from your images, just let us know and we’ll do our best to produce it for you. We have more than 20 years experience in the design industry and work with a number of incredible suppliers, so if there is something special you would like, chances are we will be able to create it for you.
