Although Reynolds is primarily singing about the housing development of suburbia and middle-class conformity I think it also tells you that education turns individuals into uniform beings without personality and creativity. Host (Photomontage) By utilizing glass negatives from the early 1900’s for my project, “Host”, I began to examine the themes of age and memory and the use of post-modern narrative structures within the context of my work. Through the use of timed exposures in the darkroom and the layering up of varying images I formed an abstract set of false memories that are open to interpretation.
