Using the Miss Thailand beauty pageant, a symbol of standardised beauty, I uncovered a gradual transformation throughout the 76 years. Being overweight is associated with several chronic diseases and reduces life span not only in adults, but also in children. The good news is that this global burden is reversible with a shift in eating behaviour. But is there room for change?
