ViSiT iT! The clustered spires are symbols of our city. To some, they represent faith. To others, they may be a particular place. They are definitely pieces of architecture and have historical value. That is why we also have a golf course, pastry shop and more named after them. Of course, Frederick is also home to the Spires Brass Band and the Clustered Spires Chorus. Furthermore, the clustered spires have been captured visually by artists throughout history. Helen Smith, one of Frederick’s earliest commercial artists as well as one of the city's most famous, designed a logo for the city’s bicentennial in 1945 featuring the Clustered Spires. Ultimately, this logo was updated in 1979 and became the city’s seal. Other artists, such as Barry Richardson and David Yontz, prominently used the spires as subject
