When you think “cupcakery,” what comes to mind? Georgetown Cupcakes, The Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” or maybe even our very own Frederick, MD?
It’s kind of cool what can transpire in the course of a year in Frederick. Buildings downtown get a facelift, Wegmans opens, and we get three new bakeries whose focuses all center around one very important thing: cupcakes. Cupcakes may be old news in other parts of the country, but in Frederick they’re the hottest thing since coffee shops. Three frontrunners shape our local view of what makes a good cupcake, and we spent time visiting each one to give you some background as to what makes them special—because, guess what? All three make super-delicious, extra-moist, can’t-get-enough cupcakes.
