Beginning Smartphone Photography

The best camera is the one you always have with you. Your Smartphone. This workshop explores the native camera and free apps that will help you take better quality images. A knowledgeable photo instructor will provide guidance in a fun, non-judgmental environment. Explore and create. No critiquing, no assignments. Simple and straight forward instruction. Smartphone Photography: Capture

You don’t just point a lens at a subject and TAKE a picture. You MAKE a picture. Basic photography concepts are explained and demonstrated. Light. Composition. Subject/ Background elements. Learn how to use different types of built-in camera tools: standard, portrait, panorama. You’ll have fun and come out of this workshop having a better understanding of the basic concepts of photography. Why a shot works or doesn’t. It’s not all science. It’s a lot of common sense.

Smartphone Photography: Create

After taking your shot, don’t just immediately send it out or upload it to Instagram. Learn what the pros do…a lot of the magic is in the editing. And it’s quite simple if you understand a few key, but simple concepts. Learn to adjust color and composition in a few easy steps. A very powerful phone app will be introduced and you will have so much fun editing. Turn your ordinary shots into amazing shots. You’ll impress your friends and family. And, more importantly, yourself.

Smartphone Photography: Share

Once you’ve created your photo, it’s time to publish your image. Learn some simple steps in sharing your photos with Instagram of Facebook type of apps. How to apply creative filters; easy methods to organize and upload. Simplify everything by knowing how the apps work. If you like to print your photos on paper, this is the place to learn that skill too. There are details that matter but they are easy to learn to do the right way.

Smartphone Photography Intensive Seminar

Bring a fully charged smartphone and we will explore the basic concepts of photography, editing and sharing. Once you sign up, you will be given instructions for 2 specific apps to have loaded onto your phone so we can jump right into an intensive session. This is intended for those who are familiar with the basic use of their native phone camera. Know how to access your camera and the rest we will do together.

Writing Your Memories

Everyone would love to find a journal or diary of their ancestors. Where’s yours? Future generations will cherish the childhood and family stories you prepare for them today. Learn to easily write your thoughts and recollections and preserve them before they disappear. Bring a prepared story each week to share with the class, including the first week.

Learn English listening, speaking, and reading skills used for everyday life. Ask for directions, read bus and train station maps, and apply for jobs. Childcare available for ages 18 months–10 years.
