To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow. Maya Angelou In celebration of Mother’s Day 2022, our present catalog champions the caring power and unconditional love of motherhood through the works of our gallery artists. These admirable women have pursued their artistic careers alongside the responsibilities of raising families, a true feat for these warriors of patience and empathy. Leading a creative life is no easy task–but to do so alongside a commitment to motherhood and family speaks volumes of the capacity and willingness to share these values, passing along gifts of imagination and inventiveness. Some of the artists in this collection embrace and explore motherhood through their artistic practice, including their children’s influence in both process and image.
