THE UPS STORE

Now Open in Dunbar Village

The north end of Dunbar Street now has its own The UPS Store near the corner of West 17th Avenue. With over 360 locations, The UPS Store is Canada’s largest network of print and copy centres and Canada’s largest franchised chain of business service centres. Franchise owner Victor Chan opened the business in mid-October 2022.

“The opening went smoothly thanks to months of training at another franchisee’s store and with help from the local The UPS Store management team. We are now recruiting passionate and caring people who want to help us grow the business in our community,” Victor comments.

After studying engineering at UBC, Victor moved to Hong Kong, where he worked for over ten years in marketing and e-commerce in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.

“In my career, I did a lot of printing and shipping. After arriving back in Vancouver, I researched my new career; I discovered The UPS Store was hosting a seminar for a franchise opportunity through the Canadian Franchise Association. From there, I learnt that their business model has elements I am very familiar with. On top of that, I found a location in a neighbourhood I love. During my time at UBC, I often hung out in Dunbar Village because many of my school friends lived in the area. The vibrant mix of local businesses made me fall in love with the community. I would shop, eat, and have my hair cut here. The decision to open The UPS Store on Dunbar was a no-brainer,” says Victor.

We are in the business of saving people time, and with shipping prices direct from UPS, we can also save them money.

Domestic and international shipping is typically what many people associate with UPS. However, The UPS Store offers a multitude of valuable services such as full-service packing, presentation and document finishing (binding, laminating, etc.), online and in-store printing services (business cards, letterhead, reports, posters etc.), black-and-white and colour copies, custom packaging and shipping for items big and small, packaging supplies, shredding services, and a variety of other business services.

“Postcards and invitations allow you to get the word out about your business or event. Let us design and print them for distribution or mailing.”

Victor explains, “Common printing services like business cards, posters, signs, booklets, and document finishing services are our baseline offer. We also partner with visual designers to help local businesses kickstart or rejuvenate their brand or business. We are here to improve efficiency so that business owners can focus on their core business. We strive to become the office hub for the local small business community.”

“We are committed to providing convenient small business services with personalized and dedicated customer service,” says Victor.

Parents of school-age children will appreciate The UPS Store’s new custom name stickers. How many times has your child’s water bottle or lunch bag vanished into a black hole, never to be seen again? These stickers may be the answer.

The rewards of operating his new franchise are already apparent. Victor says, “Being able to help and see smiles on our customers’ faces is what motivates me. Dunbar is a friendly neighbourhood where people know each other like a family. It is nice to be a member of a community that cares about the neighbourhood.”

Victor recently attended Dunbar Village Business Association’s AGM and looks forward to having The UPS Store participate in its wellloved community events.

As the holiday season is rapidly approaching, The UPS Store will experience substantially higher traffic for shipping. Victor advises visiting or calling the store if you are planning to ship something to your customers or a special someone during this time to ensure the shipment arrives on time.
