SKIN VECTOR

Skin Vector on Dunbar Street is an upscale cosmetic clinic known for its anti-aging and rejuvenating treatments.

Dr. Lana Turban is the clinic’s owner. She grew up in a small town in Belarus, where both her parents were dentists. Dr. Turban’s parents’ relationships with their clients always fascinated her, which sparked her interest in becoming a practitioner.

“I remember walking down the street during one of the local festivals with my father, and almost every second person was my father’s friend or client; they were shaking hands and hugging each other. When I asked why these people were so friendly and nice, he replied, “When you are a kind person, you will get this kindness back. When you are a passionate, professional, and great doctor, you will get double the kindness back.”

Dr. Turban has been in the medical field for almost 20 years.

She began her career as a nurse in the surgical field and graduated from the University in Belarus in general medicine with a focus on general surgery. She completed her residency at UBC in general practice.

“I was doing a lot of hands-on work in my practice in areas such as skin care, including minor surgical procedures. It was very natural for me to convert to aesthetic medicine. I completed my program at an Australian university in aesthetic, general and advanced dermatology,” says Dr. Turban.

She adds, “I trained in injectables and non-surgical facelifts in North America and Europe. I happily share my knowledge and provide training on the anatomy of aging, the use of injectables and PDO threads (a cosmetic treatment that helps reverse the visible signs of aging on the face and neck) in the prevention and treatment of skin conditions including age-related changes.”

Before rebranding as Skin Vector, Dr. Lana Turban operated the clinic as a medical clinic in another location. Dr. Turban was pleased to find the Dunbar Street location, which offers space and comfort for her clients. Skin Vector officially launched in the summer of 2022.

Thirteen years ago, a close friend of Dr. Turban’s suggested relocating to Vancouver, which she praised as the best place to call home. Although her friend has moved back to Europe, Dr. Turban says, “I love Vancouver more and more.”

My favourite thing is coming to work in the spring when the streets look absolutely beautiful with cherry tree blossoms and flying petals.

“Dunbar is a vibrant and diverse neighbourhood known for its access to the outdoors. The area is well-connected by public transit and is home to a variety of shops and restaurants, which I frequent. Its proximity to downtown makes it the ideal area to grow my business. The neighbourhood has a strong sense of community, making Dunbar a special place to base my clinic.”

Clients are taken care of by experienced staff. After checking in, they are taken to the treatment area to relax in a comfortable and peaceful environment where Dr. Turban performs cosmetic treatments; she ensures clients feel comfortable and at ease throughout the procedure. Once the treatment is complete, instructions are provided on post-treatment care, and a follow-up appointment is booked to ensure the results are successful.

Skin Vector’s mission is to deliver the best care based on the highest level of knowledge, education, and expertise.

Anti-aging and rejuvenation treatments include antiwrinkle injectables, Botox, PDO threads and dermal fillers, laser therapy, lip enhancement, mesotherapy and micro-needling.

Some of the clinic’s most requested services include medical dermatology, skin lesion removal and platelet-rich plasma for hair loss and skin and joint pain.

Many of Dr. Turban’s clients are Dunbar residents; others come from across the Lower Mainland Vancouver to visit the respected clinic. Client feedback is extremely positive. One client who gets lip filler summarizes her experience.

“I’m so glad I decided to go to Dr. Turban, and I recommend her to everyone. She put me at ease and really listened to the look I wanted to achieve while giving me recommendations based on my features. She has a very gentle, nurturing, and conservative touch. I feel so well taken care of when I see her, and I can't wait to book more treatments.”

“We do not aspire to turn the clock back or change a person, but rather to look after the skin as this is the largest and the most exposed organ of the human body,” says Dr. Turban.
